Thank you you are talking about my favorite all time basketball player Jerry West before AT came! I never missed a game he played in the NBA living near Philly saw him live many times. He was unstoppable he even guarded Bird in the 7th game of the Eastern finals while torching them for 38! God Bless you Andrew for giving me so many and I mean many great days!

Jordan or Lebron? When it comes to offense, neither compared to Andrew. Andrew would have easily scored 40 plus a night had he not been surrounded with the talent the sixers had. Nobody could and nobody ever did stop him period. He wasnt the defender or flyin in air like those two or doc or kobe, but when it came to offense NOBODY was better.

Even though I had the hugest crush on Mo Cheeks, Andrew was #2. I have quite a few pictures of him but they are in storage. The “83″ team was my all time favorite. After everyone was traded or retired it was hard for me to even watch the Sixers after that. Especially how they treated Mo and Andrew.

I remember Andrew toney like yesterday.. the man was astounding! Absolutely extraordinary… very explosive… jet quick!.. had that stop and POP.. I will always remember him as one of the men that ended the phony guard era… cause after him you couldn’t half ass… you had to come with it to be considered a real ball player.. come on, he beat the great Celtics when they were at their peak..

One of the most explosive scorers in the NBA all-time. Great and quick release on the jumper as he always thrust his chest into the defender and made it unstoppable. The sixers need to retire #22.

I also went to peachtree elementary in norcross, but I’m in high school now. I remember Mr. Toney as the health and p.e. teacher, and he was a great guy. Never knew he was so big in the NBA.

Mr. Toney spent today motivating middle school PE students who were running/jogging on the track at my son’s school in Gwinnett County, a suburb of Atlanta. He made quite an impression on my 6th grade son, who struggles in PE. It was wonderful to be able to show my son this article after he came home explaining that he met Mr. Toney today and telling us how he was encouraged to make it around that track! God bless Mr. Toney for taking time to work with reluctant students!

Living in Boston I still rooted for the Sixers. Andrew Toney for the short time he wasn’t injured was better than Magic, all the Celtic guards, Sydney Moncrief (Bucks), Michael Ray Richardson (Nets) etc.

I have my six year old son watch him on you tube to show his quick crossover, facing the hoop straight up, first quick step and ability to hit the banker (lost art).

Doctor J, Andrew Toney, Moses, Bobby Jones, Barkley and Clyde Drexler are my all time favorite NBA players.

I have been wondering about Andrew and was glad to find some information on this site. I like many of the other folks attending college with Toney and watched him play many of times. I alo remember the big game at USL between Houston and the Sixers. We are big fans of Toney, hear in Louisiana.
