First I gotta give a birthday shout out and congratulations (twofold) to my niece Aivonna Tillery. Happy Birthday Aivonna!! You know us Pisces have to stick together. It doesn’t get any better that she’s getting inducted into the National Honor Society on the day she was born. Aivonna was recently accepted to Penn State University as well and the fam is real proud of her. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Time just keeps on gettin’ by.
She’s a very talented writer who will be on the scene very soon. Go get that star!

LBJ scores 50 in the win
Since the ABA/NBA merger in 1976-1977 only two other players have accomplished what LeBron did last night. James scored 50 points–on 16-30 shooting, with 7 threes–and also dropped 10 dimes on the team Diddy would assuredly say is sick with bitchassness (check out end of post), the New York Knicks.
Stephon Marbury (52-12 in an OT game) in 2001 and Michael Jordan (57-10) way back in 1992 were the others to manufacture what I call the Plus 70.
Dude had the Knick faithful chanting MVP and giving him a standing ovation (What has happened to MSG? This would have never happened in the 90’s. Oak and/or Anthony Mason would have slammed errrrrbody) after such a remarkable performance and also was approached by fan, 17 yr. old Anthony Erskine. Erskine told James he was his favorite player–on the bench–after leaving the game with under a minute left. LeBron gave him some dap and seemed to appreciate the gesture.
Could LeBron be auditioning to eventually play in New York? Maybe Brooklyn? Hmmm.
The kid was just giving LeBron props for another New York Knick whuppin’. No harm, no foul. He was most likely merely hittin’ The King up on how to get that Cash Flow…
Oh yeah…the Knicks were blown out again, 119-105. All I can say is damn.
On a side note…
All this Bron Bron/Black Mamba debate is just plain bullshit. Kobe obviously has the better team, has done what he does for a way longer time and hasn’t been seriously considered until this year. He’s the best talent this game has ever seen and has zero MVP trophies on his mantle? That’s ridiculous.
It’s like saying Psycho T is POY over the dude who is about to set the all time double double record in college, Michael Beasley.
There’s no excuse, so fellas don’t even try it on either front. Is anyone but me hearing the media campaign for Tyler Hansbrough?
Kobe Bryant is 2007-2008 MVP
Michael Beasley is 2007-2007 Naismith Player of the Year
Nash owns one of Kobe’s MVP awards. Stevie tried to take his manhood because he damn sure knew it
Like I’ve said a million times before (and I’ll say it a million other times if I have to), Steve Nash’s MVP’s were a flagrant foul for the sport. There’s no way Nash should have won two in a row. The Suns haven’t been right since have they? The Matrix is a way better player than the media would allow us to believe. It ain’t all about Nash in Phoenix.
I TOLD YOU SO! (So did everyone else on this site)
I had to get that out there. I’m done now.

Not enough of this last night
Kevin Garnett scored 31 points to lead the Celts over the Pistons 90-78. Celtics clinch a playoff spot with win. Kendrick Perkins had 20 boards as Sheed was preoccupied with the Big Ticket. Things got a little chippy when Jesus Shuttlesworth (I watched He Got Game just last night) elbowed fellow UConn star Rip Hamilton in the throat attempting to “clear out space,” Whassup with that Ray? Thought that was your boy?
This match up is developing into an epic old school/new school Boston/Detroit battle as the league enters the home stretch. Of course LeBron is going to have a hand in what really goes down, but it’s hard not to envision a Game 7 in Boston–in double OT–for the rights to play Kobe and the Lakers. Yeah I need to fall back on the dream scape huh?
In this case, I sincerely hope it plays out.

Mayor Johnson of Sacramento, CA?
The best point guard in Phoenix Suns history, Kevin Johnson, is running for mayor of Sacramento.
Former NBA star Kevin Johnson jumped into the Sacramento mayor’s race Wednesday, announcing he will challenge three-term incumbent Heather Fargo in the municipal election in June.
The 42-year-old Johnson made the announcement at a news conference at the Guild Theater in Oak Park, the low-income Sacramento neighborhood where he grew up and where he has devoted himself to urban renewal projects after retiring from the NBA.
“We need a change in the city and I believe we need a change now,” Johnson said. “As I went out the last month and talked to people around the city, folks have said to me they believe city government is non-responsive, tired, uninspired and bureaucratic. They want something different in Sacramento. (They’re) clamoring for change.”
Fargo said she was “looking forward to holding my record up against his record. I think the voters will find more credibility and progress in my record than his.”
“We’ve been making a lot of progress throughout the city,” Fargo said. “He has a great image and a great star quality as a basketball player, but that’s a far different job than being mayor of a city.”
Johnson, who did not take questions at his news conference, is the only serious opponent to Fargo, who has governed the capital city as it has slid into a deep real estate slump.
The slumping economy has threatened marquee redevelopment projects such as the revitalization of K Street, the main downtown business strip near the state Capitol. The city has begun laying off workers to make up for a revenue shortfall estimated at more than 10% of its budget.
Johnson’s redevelopment projects also have met with mixed success.
The former Phoenix guard’s non-profit community development corporation, St. HOPE, transformed the failing Sacramento High School into a successful charter school.
St. HOPE also developed the 40 Acres Art Gallery and Cultural Center, with a book store, lofts and Starbucks, in the commercial heart of Oak Park.
But community leaders have criticized Johnson for failing to keep up other run-down properties he bought with an eye toward redeveloping them.
Johnson was forced to issue a public apology after The Sacramento Bee ran a story that said half his group’s 37 Oak Park properties had been cited for code violations over a 10-year period. Vacant lots had been left fallow and had become filled with garbage.
Johnson has since moved to clean up the properties and said he would press ahead with his redevelopment plans by bringing a Fresh & Easy market to a key Oak Park intersection.
Just a little KJ love here…
Dream did get him back though…
Go KJ Go! Who is the last PG to lead the Suns to the Finals?
Hint: It ain’t Steve Nash.
