Synonyms: 1. mortifying, humiliating. 2. dishonorable, vile, low, ignominious.

The assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 40 years ago today was all of those things and more.

The chaos that ensued in the days following King’s death put Lady Liberty on center stage; only to have the winds of unexpected change blow her dress waist-high, exposing the filth that had been hidden from the world for years underneath.

Memphis has been kickin’ cats all year

Two decent story lines headline the Final Four.

Derrick Rose and the Memphis Tigers battle fellow freshman phenom Kevin Love and the UCLA Bruins in the first game.

Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels go up against the team with whom he made his coaching name–the Kansas Jayhawks in the second.

Who wins and heads to the National Final on Monday?

I’m going with Memphis over UCLA 76-72 and Carolina over Kansas 68-60.

Chuck went off on the Warriors in Game 3 in the first round of the 1994 Western Conference Playoffs. Check the first quarter performance. My goodness. I guess the Chuckster was hot after Webb went around the back and boofed on him earlier in the season. If he was, he left no doubt. I thought they might do it that year, but I watched from a TGIFriday’s (damn those wings were good!) in Cancun as Mario Ellie ripped out the Suns’ soul by draining a dagger three from the left corner in Game 7 of the 2nd round. Remember it was the one where he kissed his fingers?  Houston would go on to with the first of 2 championships while Mike was trying to become one of the boys of summer.
