This is history people. Soak it up. Did any of you realistically think this was going to happen during your lifetime?

Barack has crossed the delegate threshold and in the process becomes the first African American to win a major party’s presidential nomination.

What are your thoughts on his chances in November against the Republican candidate, John McCain?

I watched all three speeches last night. Was I the only one laughing hysterically at McCain’s speech? That was pure comedy…he was AWFUL…you could tell when the teleprompter read “stop…smile”….because he would…stop…and smile (very creepy)….LOL

Then next up was Hillary……..wow….Miss Daisy is in full effect. I cant even be mad at her anymore…that’s so far out of my grasp of understanding, all I can do is stand in complete wonder at what that world must be like. When you can pout and stomp your feet and say you’ll do what you wanna do, when you wanna do it and can’t nobody say a damn thang…when you just lost…and not just lost, but lost the biggest contest in the country and nobody can tell you shit….wow…just wow. In fact, everybody is saying you SHOULD be allowed to pout and stomp your feet, and do what you wanna do….wow…mad? naw, I can’t be nothing but impressed. This is a new level of white right that I have to digest first, I’ll probably be mad and up to full outrage by Friday. This is truly a lesson for Miranda….wow…my daddy said though “you don’t know’em, like I know’em”….he is sooooo right. I really don’t know the depths of this thing.

Then the highlight of the evening…and the highlight for me was when Barack and Michelle gave each other that fist-bump dap right before she left the stage….nuff said.

The crazy lady said something that we must consider. Shit loads of Anglo-Saxons jumping ship to be Repub-lick-asses. Correction, shit load of older, Anti-African Anglo-Saxons, who have lost faith in the original Anti-African political party.

McCain is even more of a dead wood than Hillbilly, so the only chance he has of winning is a three-peat of old crack head’s voter grab in the last two election.

However the pessimist (in this case) in me is just hoping that Pax Americana will not use a African face for more of her dirty Imperialist expansionism but…!

  3. sankofa Says:

Miranda, don’t get mad. Just understand the new world order that Bush first talked about publicly may come to fruition.

However…be carefull of what you ask for, you just may get it.
After all of Hillbilly’s planning she forgets the basic truth that we plan but the universal force is the ultimately designer.

  4. TheLastPoet Says:

Listen, Black people have been burned alive in this country; Black people are still lynched and murdered here with complete impunity. We must not ever neglect to weigh that heaviest of realities againt the less likely reality that a Black man can become president of the United States.

  5. Temple3 Says:

    Miranda:

You probably were the only one laughing hysterically. I had the volume off. I think we achieved the same effect.

    LP:

Ditto what you said — and even if he wins, power continues to be vested in groups. Movements are driven by persons but completed by groups. Whatever the outcome, his ascent will allow young people to dream more important dreams than becoming POTUS…and that’s important.

    Sankofa:

You do realize that all of these folks are NOT Anglo-Saxons - don’t you. Most of them aren’t Saxons at all. Even fewer are descended from the Normans who put the original “shit kick” to the Saxons.

However the pessimist (in this case) in me is just hoping that Pax Americana will not use a African face for more of her dirty Imperialist expansionism but…!

Dig it. That’s the hope - but it’s a pipe dream. Going against Pax Americana at this point is a recipe for catching bullets. If he wants to fight it (and he should), he’ll have to be “crewed up” and roll deep. Maybe he’ll give a symbolic speech about the nature of violence at some place that could really use.

I know - he could go to Littleton, Colorado.
    - home of Columbine High School and one of the nation’s largest defense contractors. “To kill and die for America: The Path to Peace in Our Time.” How does that sound to you?

  6. michelle Says:

Wow! You guys are tough. I hope he’s successful but we do know the history of america. Only time will tell now.

Hillary is crazy! KEEP IT MOVIN U LOST!

  7. Mizzo Says:

Hillary is setting herself up for 2012.

She also thinks she can force Barack’s hand and become his running mate because he’ll never get Appalachia if he doesn’t. You’ll also hear the pundits proclaim he can’t win the big states without her with eyes and expressions of squalor.

“Whatever the outcome, his ascent will allow young people to dream more important dreams than becoming POTUS…and that’s important.”

T3 for me that’s all it’s about. Nothing more, nothing less.

  8. sankofa Says:

    T3

I hear you lion, in this case i chose to be guilty of a sweeping generalization because I dislike the discription “white”, which to me means squat linguistically or psychologically ( i liberated myself a long time ago)

“he’ll have to be “crewed up” and roll deep”, shit man where be the sign up sheet, if you don’t stand for something…know what i am saying?

LOL at the columbine sugestion, wouldn’t folks all over be spitting out their “courage juice’ at that moment!

“Whatever the outcome, his ascent will allow young people to dream more important dreams than becoming POTUS…and that’s important.”

    True dat!

  9. Signal to Noise Says:

Mizzo - the funny thing is that most of the Appalachia states are rarely in play for ANY Democratic nominee. Hillary can’t be on his VP ticket — it’s political suicide for Obama, and contrasts all his rhetoric.

The decision not to drop out now is all about Hillary Clinton’s entitlement complex as a figurehead of the Democratic Party (how dare I lose to this upstart when I am a high-ranking Senator and former First Lady) and, sadly, as a white woman. It has very little to do with considering what her supporters may actually want.

  10. Co Co Says:

Hilary is not to be trusted, hopefully Obama knows that by now.

  11. Temple3 Says:

    Sankofa:

We are agreed about the accuracy and utility of the word “white.”

STN: Don’t you think he did a masterful job of “blowing smoke up her ass”? I bet her cheeks were a nice rosy red after that.

  12. michelle Says:

    Bob Johnson is an ass!

  13. TheLastPoet Says:

“To Kill and Die: the Path to Peace in Our Time”

T3, I’m gonna have to “appropriate” that title in orde to apply it to some of my darker purposes… I’m dead serious. Let me know if you’d like to exercise your right to intellectual property…

  14. Temple3 Says:

Of course I would. I only surrender rights if I am offered an acceptable privilege. If the privileges you extend might include, for example, 3 years of pool parties in your new digs post-screenplay deal, that would be most acceptable.

  15. Signal to Noise Says:

T3 - he had to and it was the right move. It sucks that he even has to blow smoke up any Clinton’s ass, but this is the stupid tightrope one must operate when ousting the party’s first family. It was well done.

To answer Mizzo’s initial question about Obama’s chances: we have to be appropriately cynical about the number of voters who will not vote for him simply because he’s a black man. But I still think he stands a very good chance against McCain — especially if he continues his current line on McCain as being equivalent to four more years of George Bush both economically and on foreign policy.

One warning, though: Outside of the media kerfuffle about Rev. Wright and Father Pfleger last weekend, the press has been kind of hands off. However, the political press loves John McCain — LOVES him more than they like kicking around a Clinton (much as I dislike Hillary Clinton, they said some noxiously sexist ish about her). Now with Hillary effectively done at the top of a ticket, watch for the white guys on cable news shows to take new shots at Obama, the Democratic Nominee.

  16. Miranda Says:

Where is the Drop Squad? Bob Johnson is so past due to be snatched up.

  17. TheLastPoet Says:

I find your terms most agreeable, T3. I’ll even throw in a bribe to the police to ignore us “uppity negroes” and keep the mace out of our eyes while we kickin it! (Poor Cedric Benson - I guess we better keep the white girls out the pool, too, huh?)

But seriously, don’t be surprised if you see that title on some random book about Black people that you’ve spied at the local bookseller. You will be duly acknowledged, and invited to all pool parties; but in a book with a title like that, it may be best to change your identity in order to protect the innocent…

  18. Temple3 Says:

    LP:

That sounds good. I’d feel better if you freely chose to keep the pool “colored” (it’s a big world out there), but however we get to that end game works fine for me.

In all seriousness, work it out. Make it happen.

BTW: Have Black folks seen the last of Barack Obama (for awhile)? I’ve gotta check his schedule. I know he pledged his undying support to the lunatic Zionists over at AIPAC. He won’t be going home to Trinity. I wonder he’ll next find himself in a room full of black folk that are neither elected officials, preachers or big-money fundraisers.

    I’m gonna count the days.

  19. sankofa Says:

Actually T3 he officiall turned in his membership card right around his repudiation of Reverend Wright. So, no, he won’t be celebrating Juneenth with down home folks any time soon.

  20. Temple3 Says:

I think he will eventually - but the question is, “Which group?” “Where?” “When?” I’m sure he has invitations - and it will be interesting to see if he pisses away his pedigree by going to speak to the NAACP or some other quasi-Black group.
