Imus is an asshole. You guys are not helping “the cause” by vengefully exaggerating nothing incidents like this. Your rage over this just doesn’t pass the smell test, and neither does your justification of Jemele Hill (who according to some of you is just another uppity negro taken down by whitey). Such cliches are tired and stupid. Time to evolve beyond that.

Because Mizzo,
We’re getting too uppity…all of a sudden we have the audacity to be offended when we are….offended. When did that happen? When did we get the nerve to start voicing our disgust with being degraded and demeaned? It offends “whitey” and quite a few house negroes when we decide that enough is enough. Apparently we’re supposed to say “thank you sir and can I have another” whenever a sweet little “nappy headed ho” here and there is thrown our way. Amazingly, it seems we dont even have the right to determine we are indeed, offended..we’ve just gotten too big for our collective britches in their eyes. I guess too many of us really arent saying “Toby” anymore and that bothers them…that’s why they’re defending Imus..we won’t say Toby.

You guys are way off the mark on this one. You do real cases of racially offensive verbiage by blowing nothing-incidents like this one with Imus way out of proportion. In this case, you’re actually making stuff up about his intent. Such willful distortions are a disservice to all of us who decry *genuine* bigoted speech.

Weren’t a bunch of people here just complaining that the media was doing the exact same thing to Jemele Hill, as you’re doing to Imus? Twisting words and exaggerating intent and such.
