Friday Fire: Will the Mainstream Villilfy Three White Athletes?

Caught chopping lines of cocaine

Of course I would never wish harm or ill will on anyone. Do not misunderstand this post. I’m merely asking if the MSM will assassinate the characters of Brad Miller, Matt Jones and Teddy DuPay like they did Barry Bonds, Terrell Owens and Ron Artest. Will they reference, salaries, upbringing or education? Those in dissent, be careful what you say. Don’t come with any bullshit. You understand exactly what I’m saying here. This is how it is. I wish it not to be this way obviously, but again the chickens have come home to roost.

It will never happen Mizzo! It’s not just an entertainment thing where the favourite Caucasian icon’s image is in danger of being tarnished. I mean despite the fact some are determined to go down in flames.

I work with homeless adults, as well as being a youth worker, working young people who are homeless, with criminal and substance issues…the works.

What I found with the over all tenor and color (no pun here) of my associates views is that the African youth and adults tend to be punished more harshly, viewed more suspiciously, given less chances and denied services much quicker, than the Caucasians we service.

Being that I am known as a shit disturber (management really love me for that) I’ve stopped trying to point out the hypocrisy and try to be as balanced as possible in dealing with them. Mind you bad behaviour is bad behaviour, but these youth are being trained to (a) in the case of the Africans, perpetuate a stereotype, sometimes as a defensive reaction or (b) In the case of the Caucasians, fulfill their conditioning and re-enforcements by the larger society.

The athletes acting bad 2 xs conditioned to do shit and know that their status will often absolve them from honest criticism. With Caucasian athletes, their ethnicity is just another layer that this anti-ethnic society has a blind spot for.

Of course not…..does the mainstream media villify hockey players who beat the crap outta each other at a minimum of 2 times per game? Nope. We still don’t know what happened with the Patriots lineman who was playing “undercover sting” with the DEA. The media picks and chooses…and it picks black men and chooses to demonize them in preparation for the daily lynchings on their message boards.

  4. T-Time says:

I always wondered if white athletes committed crimes Mizzo. I would sit in front of my television and computer scree, but images of Black athletes and crime would be repeatedly shown.

But here are 3 white athletes and of course their stories will be gone in about 3 days.

There’s NO WAY Matt Jones and Adam Jones will receive the same amount of pub…

Did anyone ever hear about Mike Shanahan giving David Kircus a lie detector test to prove his innocence of a crime. I’ve never heard of that luxury for a Black player…

  5. Unfortunately, no. I’m not one for wishing ill will either, but it will not be done. You’ll get the “Matt Jones is an idiot” charge. But as I read somewhere else you’ll get a lot of “that’s surprising, Jones doesn’t LOOK like a coke-head!” What??

  6. This is the way it’s always been regardless of the situation. And in some cases they benefit from it.

Case in point, Jared Allen’s drunk driving case gets swept under the rug by the NFL and he lands a huge contract in Minnesota. While Pac-Man Jones has to jump through hoops to get back on the field.

The double-standard in sports is used as much as the double team.

When Magic said he was HIV-Positive people said he was chastized and labeled a poster child of what not to do. Mikey Mantle drinks his liver into submission and America pours out their heart to someone equally irresponsible with his life.

  7. origin says:

thebrotherreport very true. Also remember the media forced magic to come out and confess he had HIV. If he didn’t they were going to report it.

Yet Rock Hudson and Liberace had full blown aids and the media never reported that they had the disease even on their death beds. They allowed those men to die in peace and never disclosed their situation until they passed.

  8. origin says:

All that good will that magic had for the media and they still were gonna rat him out. Treated his @ss like any other black man. Then on top of that when he went around and spoke about the disease they said he was trying to portray himself like a playa.

No sorry you asked him in interviews how many women he slept with. You asked him did he have homosexual relationships. You asked him did he ever have 3 somes. You asked him was he ever in orgies. Magic was just being honest and told the truth to help others out.

    Man I hate the media.

  9. origin says:

Oh and to follow up on the Rock Hudson thing. Once he died the media spoke about how they new he had aids for years. Yet out of respect they never spoke about it.

Crazy so teh same respect couldn’t be given to magic?

Nope I guess not don’t nothing sell like a kneegrow doing bad.

  10. thebrotherreport says:

Here another one for you Muhammad Ali/Pat Tillman.

Two young athletes make a decision based on their convictions, in a country that gives us that liberty both choices should’ve been honored.

One chose for his love of country the other for his love of God, living in a country supposedly built on those “Truths” which choice should have been more honorable?

One was praised for turning his back on a life of luxury to serve. The other for not serving had his luxuries and life taken away.

One loses his life and the Government cannot tell his family why.

One fights to recoup three lost years. An extended career leads him into the fight of his life.

  11. origin says:

    Yeap brotha another great point.

  12. michelle says:

Of course not! We all make mistakes but I guess Black athletes dont’ get that kind of understanding.

  13. Miranda says:

    Michelle,
They don’t even get that kind of understanding when its found out later they never even made the mistake they were accused of…..Sean Taylor…. Steve Foley…. Brian Williams….till this day I have to double check if T.O. or Chad Johnson have ever been arrested for anything because they get bashed to death…but nope. Apparently, making a mistake is not really necessary for the bashfest of the black athlete.

  14. Hasani says:

TO and Chad Johnson get eviscerated by the media because nobody likes vainglorious showboat athletes, especially when they can’t back up their jive bullshit with championships (like both the aforementioned cannot). Joba Chamberlain can’t even pump his fist after a strikeout without getting massive criticism from the media and other players. If he were black you’d be all over that as another instance of media bias. You guys don’t realize how blind you are as you interpret everything through your brown colored glasses.

  15. Miranda says:

Here come the banjos…..skinnin and grinnin coon alert! Where Hasani is, so are the sounds of Dixie!

  16. Patrick says:

Matt gets a ‘big break’ with double standard… Hey –he was a first time offender, but wasn’t Vick a first time offender and the federal government along with the mainstream media wasn’t willing to consider that in regards to Vick… Plus, who were Matt Jones’ acquaintances, friends with him while he ‘allegedly’ cutting and snorting cocaine..?

Matt Jones ordered to drug court
    The Associated Press

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas: Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Matt Jones’ cocaine charge will be heard in drug court rather than in the regular criminal system and will allow him to keep any conviction off his record.

Jones, 25, was to have gone on trial Friday for his July 10 arrest when a Fayetteville police officer saw him inside a car allegedly cutting up cocaine with a credit card.

Prosecutor John Threet said his office reached an agreement with Jones on Tuesday to send the case to drug court. Threet and Jones’ attorney, Woody Bassett, said Circuit Judge William Storey approved the transfer Tuesday.

Bassett said Jones has to appear in drug court 1 p.m. Oct. 13 before Circuit Judge Mary Ann Gunn. Jones is a former quarterback at Arkansas and a first-round draft pick of the Jaguars in 2005.

Prosecutors say the felony charge will be dismissed if Jones completes the drug program.

Officials said Jones will have to undergo a nine-to-12-month intervention program in which he is to take part in group therapy sessions and serve 30 hours of community service. He also must submit to regular drug tests.

Gunn told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that Jones will likely not be required to move back to Arkansas to participate in the drug court program if the NFL allows him to continue playing. She said Jones must adhere to the NFL’s anti-substance abuse program and pass all its drug testing requirements.
