Boney --

Good points all re: Taylor and the changes in Miami. I wouldn't be surpised though to see Taylor get a ton of sacks --- and also to see a spike in interceptions next year. The ball is going to come out much faster next year.

Also, the focal point has been on the LBs and Safeties in Washington because that's where their most talented players were (Sean Taylor, etc.) The signing of Jason Taylor changes that. They can certainly use LaRon Landry in ways that they used Sean Taylor (even though Landry has more range), but JT is going to get his -- and he'll allow the team to play more nickel and dime coverages on passing downs.

The trade is a win-win for everyone. Miami needs to go bulky to compete against power teams in the AFC -- and 1-15 don't go to Super Bowls in one year.

"Yeah, he was Defensive Player of the Year last year, so I don’t see how he is “washed up”."

not least year, likely it was 2 years ago

Taylor is a good athlete, but I believe after this past offseason his head may be going the way Tiki's did in his final season. First the talk of retiring, then ultimately the final decision came while he's still healthy.

He's a talented player, but he wasn't going to fit into the 3-4 scheme in Miami. He's not an OLB and he's not big enough to run as an end with only 3 down linemen. He'll fit in with Washington, but remember, the safeties and linebackers are the main keys to the Redskin defense. He'll do ok in Washington, but I don't think he's going to get 11 sacks like last season.

Figured you were being sarcastic. Taylor is in AMAZING physical condition. If the Redskins have a scheme that works for him, (I wouldn't know - especially with the loss of Sean Taylor.) the defense would be scary.

He'll make everyone else's job infinitely easier. Parcells gets the benefit of the doubt with respect to trying to change the culture in Miami. I can see how an old-school dude (West Point and all that) would rail against a leader of a 1-15 team spending a summer dancing with hotties on national TV. That makes perfect sense - and it wasn't about Taylor's talent. It was about leadership, presence and symbols - and money (somewhere along the line). Taylor needed to make a move. Opportunities like that don't come along every day and he made the most of it.

He may go from being a relatively anonymous true baller to the next Senator from the great state of Ohio. There is no question that wise party politicos in the Beltway will be trying to get close - while keeping their wives two steps back. It could get greasy in DC this fall!

This wasn't an indictment of past performance, this was a prediction.

As a fellow native of the Pittsburgh, it pains me to predict doom upon the career of the greatest homeschooled Football player in history.

Aside from the Birth Certificate and all the other stuff he has had going on positioning himself for Life after Football, The only reason I suggest he might be washed up is that Dan Snyder signed him.

The previous comment was more about Dan Snyder getting his real life fantasy football on than it was about Jason Taylor ACTUALLY being washed up.

but if dude catches one of those lame hammies...dont blame him...blame Snyder.
