My favorite Marvin track is "Inner City Blues". That is a freakin' classic!

Oh yeah....I got the box set, too. I might have to go home and play it after reading this piece.

My Favorite Marvin Gaye album is "Here My Dear" released in 1978 and frankly his best and most personal album, What's going on" is the greatest album of the Rock Era and 20th century and the only album where after I hear the refrain "Father Father" after "Inner City Blues" I totally break down in tears and cry like a baby. "Here My Dear" documents Marvin's marriage and divorce from Anna Gordy and when you listen to the ebb and flow of this album you will be amazed too. And I quess Marvin did get Anna back because this was her divorce settlement.

P.S. Anna filed a lawsuit after the album's release and it was slammed for being sexist, and nasty but 30 years later it is a masterwork and in many critics opinions his best album.

i know you saw the Team USA Nike Basketball commercial with Marvin's national anthem performance in the LA Forum from back in the 80's. Commercial is crazy, thought you should know.

Marvin Gaye is a national treasure, straight out of DC. He is my all time favorite recording artist! I grew up on his music as I still enjoy it, and one day, my children will grow up on Marvin just as I did.

Aside from the Sexual Healing 45 that my Aunt used to wear out, my favorite Marvin song is and will always be "I Want You". The urgency of the lyrics, the perfectly layered backgrond vocals, and the instrumentation are just superb. I could play that song over and over.
