Usain Bolt Does It Again! He Helps Jamaica Set the World Record in the 400m Relay
Uh, so is this cat bad or what? 
Michael Phelps is back here chillin’ and evidently has passed the torch to a Bolt of lightening. Usain Bolt and his Jamaican teammates ran a 37.10 relay–which is 30 hundredths of a second off the world record the US set in 1992. The Jamaican runners ran as follows: Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell. They won by a huge margin of .96 over the silver medalist team of Trinidad and Tobago. Japan won the bronze.
The United States team didn’t qualify for the final after being disqualified for dropping the baton in the qualifying heats.
After the US was gone, who was going to challenge a team that has both Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt?
No one.
Three events, three wins, three world records.
Some say Bolt would run a 3.5 40 time. NFL front offices have to be salivating at the prospect of Bolt running a go route–say for the Chargers?
IOC president Jacques Rogge has criticized Bolt for what he says is disrespecting his competitors, but in my opinion Rogge should be sending Bolt thoughts of adulation for keeping the Olympics in the news after the departure of Phelps. He’s one of 4 runners all time to win the 100, 200 and 400 relay. Carl Lewis, Bobby Morrow and Jesse Owens and now Bolt have accomplished the feat. More importantly, Bolt becomes the first runner ever to set three track and field world records in the same Olympics. Dude is on his way to becoming one of the great athletes of our time. Just when you thought it was all about Phelps and the United States men’s basketball team, lightening strikes thrice.
This guy is amazing. He reminds me of T.O. a little bit though.
And he has the perfect track name….Bolt….couldn’t be scripted better!
