Friday Fire: How Does the 2008 NFL Season Shake Out?
CJ will wreck the league this year
Can’t believe it’s time for the NFL. Are you ready? Last night the season kicked off with a snore as Brandon Jacobs, Plaxico Burress and the New York Giants bullied a Washington Redskins team in total disarray 16-7. BJ gave the Skins that cold rock stuff didn’t he? Why wasn’t Santana Moss’ catch challenged? Play blown dead?
Here’s how think the 2008 NFL season will go down.
MVP: LaDanian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers
Offensive Player of the Year: Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
Defensive Player of the Year: Patrick Willis, San Francisco 49′ers
Offensive Rookie: DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles
Defensive Rookie: Glen Dorsey, Kansas City Chiefs
Coach of the Year: Brad Childress, Minnesota Vikings
Playoff Teams NFC:
Philly NFC East
Minnesota NFC North
New Orleans NFC South
Arizona NFC West
Wild Card: Dallas and NY
NFC Conference Championship: Dallas over Philly
Playoff Teams AFC:
New England AFC East
Pittsburgh AFC North
Indy AFC South
San Diego AFC West
Wild Card: Jacksonville, Tennessee
AFC Conference Championship: San Diego over New England
Super Bowl Champions: Dallas Cowboys (Ouch!) over San Diego Chargers 37-35

How the hell does everyone have Dallas going from not winning a playoff game in forever to winning the Super Bowl?
I ain’t buying it!
Oh yeah, I’m an Eagles fan btw.

He’s been there the last couple and it hasn’t mattered.

Don’t hate. Trust…it’s crazy that I can even speak it. It’s just that time for him. He deserves a ring.

In fairness to the Cowboys, I’d never pick them to win anyway, but I honestly don’t think they are going to win the Super Bowl.

As Philly biased as I am, we as sports writers we have to remain objective. Everyone knows here that I would have picked the Eagles to go 19-0.

I’m being very objective when I say I really dont think they are going to win the Super Bowl. Honestly, I don’t. Everyone is picking them and we know how that usually turns out! I’m not sold on their coach at all. But today, they have just as good of a chance as anyone.

He’s a big pass dropping byatch. He’s the A-Rod of the NFL. He’s beautiful when it doesn’t count.

When Brandon Jacobs rolled over Reed Doughty, I couldn’t help but think, “That wouldn’t have happened to Sean Taylor.”

I don’t know bruh. A lot of Dallas’ failings falls squarely on the coach and the qb. TO has proven himself in the clutch numerous times–and ealsky in his career. For all the slobbering Romo has received the past couple years because of pack journalism, it’s time for him to step up.
I don’t think you were in the minority when you thought that about Sean Taylor sir. Damn I miss him. He was peace to watch.

Mizzo: If Calvin ends of the Offensive Player of the Year, the Lions are going to the playoffs. So you either need to change that or put Detroit in the NFC playoff picture.
P.S.- Dallas sucks.

DISCLAIMER: I am an Eagles fan through and through
Dallas will not make the SB because for all the talent on that team especially on the offensive side of the ball, that coaching staff is in flux. The players know Wade Phillips is a lame duck this season no matter what happens and there’s going to come a time this season when a player or coach (Jason Garrett) is going to undercut his authority and the locker room will fracture. I don’t know but it’s something in the water with America’s Team that makes these guys cocky divas at least since Jerry Jones took over the team in the late ’80’s. Internal dissension will lead to external ineptitude and trust and believe the ‘Boys will fumble away another opportunity in January.
Now who do I pick as a SB team this year at least in the NFC? That would be telling but I’m not picking Dallas and as much as it pains me to say it won’t be Philly. I’m not sold on the Eagles wideout corps and I know Westy and D’Nabb can’t do it by themselves. Prove me wrong though.
