Barkley on the addition of Ron Artest to the Houston Rockets: “Ron Artest is a really good player who says crazy things. (The Rockets) could win the championship, but he could blow that team up any day now.  Ron Artest is going to have to prove it to me, that’s no disrespect, he’s got a track record and his track record is up and down.  He’s going to have to prove if he can keep his head together for the entire season. I think a person who has issues always has issues.”

Fell asleep watching Juice and somehow dreamed of Terrelle Pryor replacing Omar Epps as GQ. I’m sure you remember Q teetering between high school rock head and aspiring world class DJ. His nemesis was Tupac’s Bishop. Bishop was straight crazy and tried to bring down the whole crew–dead or alive–and ended up dead himself.

This really hurts to post this, but they’ve reportedly found Jennifer Hudson’s 7 yr. old nephew Julian King…slain in the back of a SUV trunk. Friday, as you all know, Hudson’s Mother, Darnell Donerson, and Brother, Jason Hudson were shot to death on the south side of Chicago. William Balfour is the person of interest and the estranged boyfriend of Jennifer’s sister Julia Hudson.

This was after an extensive search where she offered a 100,000 dollar reward…

Isiah Thomas Rushed to Hospital In Suspected Sleeping Pill Overdose

Posted in Blogroll on October 24th, 2008 by Mizzo

There’s a report coming out of Purchase, NY that Isiah Thomas has overdosed on sleeping pills. Police werepray-for-zeke Isiah Thomas Rushed to Hospital In Suspected Sleeping Pill Overdose called to his home around midnight last night and he was rushed to the hospital unconscious but was breathing. Zeke is still in the hospital. Apparently his stomach was pumped of 10 Lunesta sleeping pills (he had a prescription so police aren’t pursuing an investigation regarding anything criminal). Don’t jump the gun and presume this is a suicide attempt as of yet but the number of pills being reported is an indicator. The Knicks have declined comment. Stories like this should not be reported until all facts are clear. I’ll post more on this as it develops.

The Crazy Stuff People Do So Barack Does Not Get Elected

Posted in Blogroll on October 24th, 2008 by Mizzo

ashley_todd_hoax_b_is_backwards_dumbass The Crazy Stuff People Do So Barack Does Not Get ElectedThe Ashley Todd story is a hoax. Makes you wonder just how many people wanted this ridiculous story to be true but it also shows folks are losing their damn minds as election day approaches. Self mutilating yourself with a backwards B to bring negative publicity to Barack Obama is laughable but she must be disturbed to do something like this. I could care less about her personally because of her actions, but as a father, I hope she gets some help. Don’t be shocked if more craziness goes down the next 11 days so please, please, please be careful out there people.

Oh…another thing…if you are voting for Barack, keep the buttons and pins off your person because some fear Republicans are going to ensure an old ass law is enforced prohibiting public endorsing of a candidate in the polling place.

Then there’s this from Atlanta. Miranda what ya’ll got goin’ on down there?…

Don’t Call it a Comeback: Daunte Culpepper Wants Your Quarterback’s Job

Posted in Blogroll on October 24th, 2008 by Mizzo

This is an email I received:

im-back Dont Call it a Comeback: Daunte Culpepper Wants Your Quarterbacks Job

“A number of teams have contacted me since my retirement announcement and have provided some important information that has caused me to reconsider returning to the League. As much as I have enjoyed my brief break from playing, I know that I love the game and I have some unfinished business in the NFL.  It has never been because of a lack of passion for the game but rather, the absence of a fair opportunity to compete and play that caused me to retire.  Now that there are some real opportunities that match my desire to play, I will choose the one that is the best fit for both the team and me so that I can continue my NFL career.  For the second half of this season, I hope to play a role in helping a team win some games.  I want to thank all of those who encouraged me to ‘keep a light on’ for the right NFL opportunity that would eventually come back to me.”

Rudy Ray Moore Goes Out Like He Came In–On Stage

Posted in Blogroll on October 24th, 2008 by Mizzo

This was sent to me this morning from Branson Wright.

I went to the Rudy Ray Moore (Dolomite) funeral in Akron last night. I went to support a good friend whorip-brotha-208x300 Rudy Ray Moore Goes Out Like He Came In--On Stage was close to Moore. I also met Moore two years ago at a Cleveland Cavaliers event. It was the wildest funeral I’ve ever been to.

Moore was in the casket donning a hat, black suit, white pinstripes and sunglasses that continuously lit up.

Throughout the night, several mourners, and I use that loosely, crowded around the casket for pictures. The wake also included a showing of some of Moore’s movies and stand ups, which included so much cursing that the pastor had to leave the room.

The one celebrity that appeared was “Scorpio,” one of the pimps from “Ho’s up, Pimps down.” He represented. He wore a loud orange suit with all of the bling. But instead of flying or even taking the bus, he arrived in Akron from Chicago in a stretch Limo.

Friday Fire: Which Athlete Has the Biggest Impact On Their Respective Sport?

Posted in Blogroll on October 24th, 2008 by Mizzo

so-what Friday Fire: Which Athlete Has the Biggest Impact On Their Respective Sport? This cat right here is my pick for the best athlete in sports. LeBron and Kobe are monsters and obviously so is Tiger, but Manuel Aristides Onelcida Ramirez scares the shit out of every single opposing fan and player when he steps into the on deck circle. Pitch to him with the game on the line and you might get fired. His 28 homers in the postseason are 1st all time–ahead of Bernie Williams (22) and Mr. October, Reggie Jackson (18). As a Yankee fan, I’m glad he got the hell out of dodge. His trade was one of the dumbest moves in sports history because it transformed Big Papi (though he is injured) into Robin without Batman’s protection.

The Unplayed Keys By Taylor Tillery and Autumn Hollis

Posted in Blogroll on October 23rd, 2008 by Taybay

My daughter told me last night this is the correct title and also said friend Autumn Hollis collaborated with the play. There have been many new readers on the site lately and I wanted to welcome you all with the reason that I mikes-pics-357-300x200 The Unplayed Keys By Taylor Tillery and Autumn Hollisbe. I’m very critical of writers who don’t seem to understand how their work affects us all and this is why: I do this for my children,  my closest family and lastly, my friends. Everyone who knows me, knows this to be true. Mizzo Jr., is in love with the arts. I feel he’s the best athlete of all my kids, but sports doesn’t serve his soul and that’s perfectly fine. My love of sports was passed to my youngest children, Gaston and Taylor Jourdan. My soul of sports is embodied in the non-stop protection of their limitless future–whatever that may be. It’s as simple as that. When the dogs inevitably come after my children (like they do with so many seeds of others) with venomous pens, I want them to be ready to burn through their argument with action. What kind of Pop would I be if I was never critical of writers who do us all a boopsngas-300x200 The Unplayed Keys By Taylor Tillery and Autumn Hollisdisservice? So far, my youngest two have state and district titles in multiple sports. It’s very logical to say they’ll go on to college and continue their athletic careers. I wrote a piece on Gaston and will have one forthcoming on Michael Jr. My daughter Taylor, 12, who is tearing up basketball (triple double threat with blocks), softball (will not get caught on the base paths, hits bombs and will run down everything in the field) and field hockey (scores from everywhere), wrote this play and I wanted to post it just to show others just how much the work we do affects our children. When I initially got into the game, I made sure Taylor was with me whether I was on the field or doing an interview. She seemed to enjoy journalism so I would be remiss not to pass the wisdom and knowledge I’ve collected over the past three years in hopes she’ll find her own path to success. Now, I’m not the greatest Pop by any stretch. I have so much work to do to become the best father I can be, but boopsies-on-first-200x300 The Unplayed Keys By Taylor Tillery and Autumn Hollismy soul is happy knowing that I have great children and also a great niece. My niece Aivonna is a freshman at Penn State and is doing big things that hopefully her cousins will emulate.Vonni, as we call her, is a very talented writer in her own right and I will post pieces written by her as well. Taylor’s play has nothing to do with sports. It has more to do with family struggle and how that struggle helps us transition into the successful people we all aspire to become. I must note that my edits were at a bare minimum. This was all my daughter. A poem I wrote for Taylor entitled Daughter Daddy Eyes follows her play. Click the pics for relevant music clips. Thanks for reading.

Interview With Branson Wright: Back In the Day When Dwight Anderson Was Mike

dwight-anderson Interview With Branson Wright: Back In the Day When Dwight Anderson Was Mike

First, I have to give a birthday shout out to my son Gaston. I love you son. I’m very proud of you.

Doing what I do, you come across like minds in the field. Branson Wright is one of those good brothas who has a passion for his writing. He’s shopping around the story of Dwight Anderson. This interview is a cautionary tale for those young and old who are on the fast track to squandering their talent–whatever that talent may be. Fathers, please get a hold of your sons and give them the support they need to survive in a world ready to stroke their ego, watch them fall and then spit them out with no remorse. Don’t think it won’t happen to your kid. Snakes come in all shapes, sexes, races and sizes. Kids must learn accountability at a very young age or they will fall off the cliff and never be heard from again. Things happen, but hopefully they’ll live to tell about it. I could sense the passion in Branson’s voice when doing this interview. Dwight Anderson affected him. He speaks sadly of his early and very unfortunate demise, but is also very happy that Dwight Anderson is alive to share his story.

The Brett Favre Detroit Story and ESPN Starring As the Grave Digger (ESPN Press Release Added Below 10/22)

Posted in Blogroll on October 21st, 2008 by Mizzo

Did Brett Favre call the Lions earlier this season and give Detroit a 60-90 minute run down of the Packers offense? According to Fox Sports Jay anyone-want-a-piece-of-green-bay The Brett Favre Detroit Story and ESPN Starring As the Grave Digger (ESPN Press Release Added Below 10/22)Glazer this definitely went down. Favre has denied the report but Glazer stood by his words during an appearance on Jim Rome’s show yesterday. Favre’s alleged information didn’t amount to much because the Lions were blown out 48-25. No wonder Millen got fired.

You think this would be major news to ESPN? Uh…no. Check the site for a buried mention. What’s up with that? ESPN has a shot to report on something that actually affects play on the field and neglects to do so? Hmmm makes you wonder doesn’t it? What’s the real deal going on over there? Will the real editor please speak up?
