Navin,

I can't speak for the perception in Toronto One of the all-time misconception in NYC is that Isiah did a terrible job in Toronto. In three years he drafted Stoudamire, Camby, and Tracy McGrady while adding Doug Christie. Once he resigned they blew it up and traded the young guys for vets -- only enough to make a temporary splash. I would have loved to have seen what would have happened had Isiah stayed on in Toronto.

And check out the 5 guys drafted before McGrady and the five guys after him and tell me that it wasn't one of the all-time best selection.
----------------

Depending on Jermaine O'neals health, I really think Toronto can be a legitiamte contender. They do need to add a wide-body to do some rebounding and grunt work. Not eve a superstar, maybe a Reggie evans type. I don't know why they won't do this.

excellent work MODI! that is why I lie Byron Sdcotts as much as i do. he seems to know tat when yuh have such work the best..indeed to only way to go is to rebuild from the ground up.

that is slow but the faithful must undersand.

it was a straight case of getting rid of players, shedding salaries, making the best use of the drafts even with the low selections...while hoarding higher positions when and if you can.

I thought Isiah had to go like he did with Toronto...a complete building job...eliminate the old and start with young players.

it would have taken some time. there was no alternative

all I can say is thanks man!

I live in Toronto Canada, through which Isiah passed as the first Raptors GM....left in controversy and failure to buy the team...apparently unpopluar but hardly unloved or not respected by those who knew he quality of the work he did, in bringing almost instant respectability to our NBA franchise.

I did not get the chance to follow the knicks situation he ascended to closely, but fellt confident from afar....based on what we knew of Isiah, that the knicks had found their man.

I expected good results in the long term.

I am not hard on Isiah at all. he is a person I met personally, chated with for a minute...and got his autograh.

I admired him for selection of Damon Stoudemaire, under great pressue to select the big guy who went to the Grizz instead, and never amounted to much.

Isiah brought Marcus Camby and others to Toronto. we were well on our way early because of Isiahs solid excutive work.

I did not expect this failure at all...angry about it...especially at the treatment of Isiah at the end by Walsh..isolation in some obscure office somewhere in the dungeons of MSG...

and that harrassment trial. that does not sit well from any angle at all. how in the hell could a grown man like the Isiah I knew get himself involved in that?

he has money...go get he the bauties yu can afford in safety and privacy.

it is love for the personality that drives me I believe. Isiah was a strong blac man, full of ambition and drive to do big things in the world. I expected him to fulfill all he clearly intend to achieve.

for me....to me President of the knicks is like one of the 3 greatest jobs in the NBA...the other 2...president of the Lakers and Celtics.

I dont know the guy in LA..its too far away and despite Kobe all I want to know the Lakers is when they lose...preferrably to any easten champion..especially the Knicks.

by now yu must see the old dreams in my head of a heavilly straped Willis Reed outplaying Wilt all the way back in the early seventies

I know and love feisty Dany Ainge in Boston...the perfect fit for the Celtics...now that Red is gone.

in that job at the MSG I would have cherished it, worked night and day to be successful. they would have had to drag me home to wife and children....or I would have brought them there with me

thats how I feel about. sorry for the great gush of wind. I promise to be brief next time1

Firstly, nice interview mizzo. I'm glad you asked the community question to Stephon, and I'm glad his line will be picked up by Amazon. Great news indeed.... nate is going to take off this year. You really saw him budding last year toward the end and D'Antonio's system will make him Leandro Barbosa.

On the negative side, no matter what shape they are in ZBo and Curry cannot be on the floor at the same time. You can hide one of them as an interior defender, but never both. It is simp[ly impossible. The 1st quarter deficits from last year were overwhelming precisely for that reason. They usually broke even with teams in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

Navin, maybe this will soothe you. Take it easy on Isiah. the roster he inherited when judged 4 years later was ont of the worst in the history of the NBA and the majority are out of the league and only Kurt Thomas and McDyess are still the only productive players. Now I have poured over rosters from the last 40 years and can't find any teams that turned such a poor roster around in 5 years. The ONLY exception is if a team lucks out with the #1 pick in a special year like when the Bucks nabbed Kareem in '69. My point is that Isiah took on a suicide mission with no trade bait where even red auerbach would have gotten booed out of town. While this sentiment isn't popular, it is the statistical truth.

I am still trying to make sense of the Isiah Thomas riot of a time through his presidency/coach stint with the Knicks....

that has been the most upsetting experience for me...through my NBA-following life.

nothing has been so unfathomable and upsetting in almost 4 decades of my worhsipping at the feet of american basketball.

can anybody shed some light here?

I need to know...please?

or am I too late with this?
