Ron Glover’s NFL Power Rankings: Week 8

Steven Jackson and the St. Louis Rams won their second game in as many weeks over an NFC East foe. Last Sunday the victim was the Dallas Cowboys in a 34-14 rout. Jackson had 25 carries for 160 yards and three touchdowns.

1. Tennessee Titans (6-0) Last Week #1:
LenDale White is one of the best short yardage backs in the game. The defensive unit is only giving up 11ppg.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-1) Last Week #2:
Mike Tomlin’s group continues to get it done in spite of injuries probably the best coaching job this season.
3. Buffalo Bills (5-1) Last Week #3:
The Bills took a huge step last week in their victory over the Chargers.
4. New York Giants (5-1) Last Week #4:
The Giants defense stepped up and stopped two potential scoring drives by the Niners in Sunday’s win.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2) Last Week #5:
Jeff Garcia’s grit and determination are going to take the Bucs a long way.
6. Washington Redskins (5-2) Last Week #6:
The Skins dodged another potential upset, Clinton Portis is one of my first half MVPs.

7. Carolina Panthers (5-2) Last Week #11:
Totally shut down an otherwise explosive Saints offense with ease. A big home game against the Cardinals before the bye.
8. Arizona Cardinals (4-2) Last Week #7:
May get Anquan Boldin back this week against Carolina.
9. Chicago Bears (4-3) Last Week #17:
The Bears defense forced five turnovers in their shootout with the Vikings.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3) Last Week #12:
Maybe we’ll begin to see some consistency from this shaky bunch.
11. New England Patriots (4-2) Last Week #19:
By the time the playoffs roll around the Pats may be a feared bunch again. Their one irreplaceable, Rodney Harrison will be missed.
12. Atlanta Falcons (4-2) Last Week #14:
Matt Ryan returns home Sunday to take on the Eagles.

13. Green Bay Packers (4-3) Last Week #20:
Who tipped the Packers off on how to shut down the Colts offense?
14. Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) Last Week #15:
The Eagles will have most of their offensive unit together for the first time this season.
15. Dallas Cowboys (4-3) Last Week #9:
A loss coupled with an Eagles win and the ‘Boys will be sitting in last place. Tony Romo will miss another week as the Buccaneers come to town.
16. Baltimore Ravens (3-3) Last Week #25:
The next three weeks for the Ravens will tell us alot, as they face Oakland, Cleveland and Houston.
17. Indianpolis Colts (3-3) Last Week #8:
Tennessee, New England and Pittsburgh await a Colts team still looking to find itself.
18. San Diego Chargers (3-4) Last Week #10:
With a semi-favorable schedule the rest of the way, the Bolts can still right the ship. Thank goodness for the AFC West.
19. Denver Broncos (4-3) Last Week #13:
The Broncos are a team that a closer to a trick pony than they are a Clydesdale.
20. New Orleans Saints (3-4) Last Week #18:
The Saints fly across the pond to take on the struggling Chargers on Sunday.
21. Houston Texans: (2-4) Last Week #24:
Things are finally starting to go the Texans way. Steve Slaton has given them a back they can depend on.

22. New York Jets (3-3) Last Week #16:
Insider Brett gave the game away last week against Oakland. The Jets face the Chiefs at home before a showdown with the Bills.
23. St. Louis Rams (2-4) Last Week #27:
The Rams are going for their third win in a row Sunday in Foxboro.
24. Minnesota Vikings (3-4) Last Week #22:
Another team trying to find themselves before it’s too late.
25. Oakland Raiders (2-4) Last Week #30:
The Raiders travel East to take on the Ravens Sunday befor returning home for the Falcons and Panthers.

26. Cleveland Browns (2-4) Last Week #24:
You can expect the Kellen Winslow drama to effect this team in the locker room and on the field.
27. Miami Dolphins (2-4) Last Week #23:
Looking to get back on track in Buffalo Sunday.
28. San Francisco 49ers (2-5) Last Week #26:
I’m curious to see if Mike Singletary’s intensity as a player carries over into his coaching and into his players.
29. Seattle Seahawks (1-5) Last Week #28:
What position aren’t they injured at?
30. Kansas City Chiefs (1-5) Last Week #31:
God Bless Herman Edwards.
31. Cincinnati Bengals (0-6) Last Week #30:
How Marvin Lewis keeps a smile on his face through this season from hell is beyond me.
32. Detroit Lions (0-6) Last Week #32:
I’m sure the Lions fans are already done their holiday shopping.

It’s not “The Kellen Winslow Drama.” It’s the Phil Savage Drama…It’s the Romeo Sucks Management Staph Infected Balls Drama.
Let’s keep it where it’s at.
October 23rd, 2008 at 1:27 am
F^%& the browns.
The NFL is a joke. The fact that Winslow got suspended for this crap is a joke. Sad to say the NFLPA won’t do anything thing.
Fing punks…………now who will the players blame all of the NFLPA f ups on??? No more Upshaw to blame.
October 23rd, 2008 at 5:22 am
I have to agree with Kellen on this one. Cleveland Browns’ management handled Winslow’s hospitalization very poorly and this string of staph infections is an recurring problem that really hasn’t been really discussed in depth. Winslow is approaching his contract year, and it seems it is likely that the Browns’ organization will soon depart with their former first round draft choice.
In regards to the POWER RANKINGS, Indy is on the verge of being on the outside looking in and its not even Halloween yet. Barring a historic Titanic collapse by the Titans they have the AFC South on lock and key, and the mediocre Colts are finding it hard to sustain offense and find wins…I guess they do miss Joseph Addai, but maybe the Colts are on the decline and the other teams in the AFC South — especially defensively have caught up to the Colts’ offensive schemes. A Titans’ win over the Colts would give Tennessee a FOUR GAME LEAD heading into November and forces Peyton to become wild card chasers…Personally, I could care less about the Colts. Go Tennessee!
…Earlier in the year, ESPN old school haters Ron Jaworski, Schalereth and Merril Hoge were singing the praises of Denver QB Jay Cutler and some were exclaiming he was the best of the 2006 draft class..that included Vince Young… Young has a winning record as a NFL starter and has took his team to the playoffs, and Cutler has not..Leinart has not
Cutler was alright at Vanderbilt–nothing spectacular, but he was 6′4 had a cocky attitude and threw the ball hard, so that makes him a first round draft choice. I don’t see Cutler as overly impressive and when the New Patriots put a beatdown against the Broncos allowing seven points, it validated my opinion of Cutler..OVER-RATED…earlier in the week, he was apparently talking boldly to some of the media that he has a stronger arm than John Elway…I am not a big Elway fan, and (as a Falcon fan from 1998, still felt we could have beaten the Broncos if it wasn’t for Eugene Robinson’s midnight arrest), but for Cutler start talking BS about Elway was unnecessary, and Cutler got what he deserved.
Some have tried to say Matt Ryan has arrived in Atlanta, but is winless vs. the NFC South (0-2) and hasn’t led the Falcons to even the playoffs yet. Message to ‘old school haters’..I know you have an existing contempt for Vick, Vince, McNabb, Culpepper and other black QBs, but AT LEAST THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO LEAD THEIR TEAMS TO THE PLAYOFFS ONCE… Before you start ‘crowning’ Cutler or Ryan, he needs to lead his team to the playoffs…
Carolina is emerging as the best team in the NFC South and their defense, just like in 2003 when they made their SuperBowl run, is emerging to be the difference. And their win vs. offense-minded and now Bush-less New Orleans was a strong indicator.
And I have to give props to Tampa, they virtually put Seattle out of playoff contention with a strong defensive effort as well.. It will be interesting to see how Atlanta’s Matt Ryan match up against the top-tier NFC South teams, but they have a tough test vs. Jim Johnson’s variety of exotic blitzes and have to deal with a normally rowdy Philly crowd.
…One final note about Larry Johnson.. Such a promising young talent, but these string of domestic violence encounters are very embarrassing and disturbing. C’mon Larry get it together….I know you wish you had a real QB in KC, but this off the field crap got to stop…

@TBR
I agree 100% with the rankings. Outstanding job.
@Patrick
Damn…..I agree with everything you said, word for word.
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Temple,
I’m behind Winslow 100% on this one, no intent to paint him as the bad guy.
GN,
Thanks, it was one of the tougher rankings for me this week.
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Patrick I couldn’r agree more.
October 23rd, 2008 at 2:18 pm
TBR:
I knew that. I just want to make sure we call things by their proper names. Like the “War on Terror” isn’t really a war on terror. Besides, when trolls come through, you can ask them if this is the Phil Savage Drama, why aren’t they focusing on Phil Savage? Let’s try to keep the Africans OUT of the CROSSHAIRS to the greatest extent possible.
As an aside — that’s why I might have posted Matt Jones picture instead of Sean Taylor’s on that piece TSF did earlier this week.
As you well know, it’s all love. Great rankings. More on the Bucs later.

I have heard some positive things coming out of Tampa Bay in regards to former Auburn great Carnell ‘Cadillac’ Williams. For the first time in about a year, he is finally practicing with the Bucs. Williams came into the league with such promise. Now entering the NFL three seasons ago he was around 200 lbs. , but had bulked up to around 217 by his second season. However, I mostly remember him for denying the Vick-led Falcons their very elusive second consecutive winning (over.500) season. Our defense led by the over-rated Keith Brooking got trucked and made to look foolish in the open field by Cadillac as he scored the game winning TD in both divisional games. Vick did all he could to help the Falcons back in 2005, but that run defense at the time was no match for Cadillac. Tampa made the playoffs in that year at the Falcons’ expense.
Cadillac had a style of running similar to current NFL star Adrian Peterson: elusive, yet violent, smooth and powerful at the same time. Peterson is faster, but Cadillac had that ‘Jerry Rice speed’…once he gets into the open field, it seems he gets into the endzone.
I was disappointed my Vick-led Falcons lost to Tampa TWICE which knocked us out of the playoffs, but Cadillac had skills and I was a little saddened to see that he has had recurring, lingering injuries.
Good luck Cadillac..
One word on Vick…
He is getting out of jail sooner than people think. I had predicted a possible late December early January release. And I believe if Obama wins the presidency, then the path for Vick, a first time offender, who has amazingly been imprisoned since September 2007, will be easier for him…
Obama , as President, has the authority to appoint new U.S. District attorneys, prosecutors, and assistant attorneys. So Republican-appointed Charles Rosenberg, the District Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia who pushed the Vick case after over-exposure from ESPN, will be pushed out himself upon an Obama nomination. And the federal folks who rushed and pushed this indictment and conviction of Vick will be out of office…and on a side note +++watch how the Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds steroid story DISAPPEAR+++ Jose Canseco knows it, and that is why in my opinion he is ‘expressing regret’… he sees the handwriting on the wall that the Feds won’t pursue this issue… An Obama administration will be going after people who perpetrate mortgage fraud, Wall Street crimes and other important issues that require a legal remedy, not trying to retroactively go after people who may have taken steroids ten years ago…or trying to make a federal case out of dogfighting..
Gerald Poindexter ,who questioned Rosenberg and the federal government’s judgment in pursuing a dogfighting case, is willing to work out a plea agreement to settle the state charges. Vick will still get extensive probation, but it opens the door for Vick to be released early from prison.
Vick isn’t coming back to the Falcons. However, I hope Arthur Blank, the erratic, impulsive owner of the Falcons don’t try to hold Vick hostage. If Blank wants to turn the page as he said in an ESPN interview, then let him go…Blank has made his proverbial bed with the still untested Matt Ryan (currently winless vs. the NFC South). Vick sold out the Georgia Dome for five consecutive years and brought excitement to Falcon fans and put money in Blank’s pockets. So Blank should just part ways and let Vick resume his life and NFL career at the age of 28.

Patrick:
You’re on FIRE!!!
I’d like to see Vick running the Wildcat in Miami or ANYWHERE. The greatest liability of Miami’s Wildcat is that Pennington isn’t really a factor because of his limited arm strength and limited speed (ok, non-existent). The Ravens stuffed that offense by simply blitzing everyone and crashing the run game. If you tried that with Vick on the field, he would shake the crap out of the person left to cover him alone in the flat. So - teams would NEVER leave 1 defender against Vick in open space. It would be suicide. If he didn’t run, he’d still have man coverage deep. He can throw 70 yards on the fly in his sleep. Vick in Miami with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams would be a WET DREAM for ESPN.
It might be the only thing to cure their White Supremacy Jones, also known as their Matt Jones.
I don’t know that Parcells would want him, but I’ve seen other teams running the Wildcat and I’m sure one of them would be willing to take the chance on getting 35 yards per touch. Maybe he could go to Oakland and be paired with JaMarcus. Yikes!!!
I feel like the NFL coaches have only used 10% of their brain power when it comes to offense. It seems to me that their have to be better ways to play this game.
—-
On the Bucs:
I’ve always been a big fan of Cadillac — loved watching him run at Auburn. One of my favorite clips is of him appearing to run out of bounds, then suddenly changing direction to stay in bounds, and crushing a defender with a stiff arm — then just running over the dude. He was good enough to force Ronnie Brown to split carries and to force Brandon Jacobs to leave the state. I hope he comes back strong.
I’m still not sold on the Bucs because of their offense. The defense is the real deal, though. Earnest Graham is only averaging about 65 yards a game. He’s had 3 great games and 3 bad games (not all his fault). Garcia is essentially an extension of the run game and that short passing is going to catch up with them if they cannot stretch the field. If Joey Galloway comes back healthy and the Bucs can figure out how to get the ball to the old man, they’re going to be fine. Otherwise, I’d be very concerned late in the year if they need a win outside of the deep South.
They only have 1 loss in the conference and have beaten all of the major playoff contenders outside of the NFC East (coming up, though) - so they’re in GREAT position. I see them making the playoffs, but without a deep passing game and more production from Graham, I see an early playoff exit.
October 23rd, 2008 at 6:18 pm
I think Parcells would roll the dice on Vick, remember he deal with an L.T. on coke and he loves no player more than L.T. I think that it would work.
I’m a big Cadillac fan, hope he picks up where he left off.
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Have you seen this? Culpepper, Johnson, Gonzalez and Bowe could be a nice combination. They’re all past their prime except for Bowe, but they might be able to take a shot at deflating some tires during the year. I don’t how comfortable Culpepper would be running what the Chiefs do offensively, but whatever he does would be better than Tyler Thigpen.
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:14 pm
His ability to throw deep ball alone has me curious.
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:40 pm
I’m still trying to understand how there could be 6 cases of staph infections in the Browns organization in 3 years, and yet they wanted Kellen to keep it on the down low?? That is beyond crazy.
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Not really crazy.
Everyone on the Browns was going to get fired before Derek Anderson caught a case of the Kitna’s and started dropping bombs on the competition. Remember that game against Cincinnati last year? Quinn wasn’t ready to go. Frye was always a big question mark. If Anderson didn’t produce, Phil Savage would have had to explain much more than staph infections.
He would have to explain how big front line expenditures on LeCharles Bentley (staph infection), Eric Steinbach, Joe Thomas (#1 team pick), combined with Jamal Lewis and big receivers like Jurevicius (staph infection) and Edwards (staph infection) and Winslow (staph infection) have not translated into more productivity on offense.
These calculated attacks on players are intended to deflect criticism from management. We live in a world where idiots (like Boney over at SOMM) actually think Shockey and Olson are better tight ends than Winslow. Winslow has arguably been the best performer on the team since 2006. He’s had two 80+ catch seasons and he moves the chains.
Savage has a great reputation that should be taking a hit right now. The team gambled with Romeo Crennel and the Browns may have mortgaged the development of a stronger team by keeping veterans like McGinest around. He may be worth his weight in gold as another on-field coach, but perhaps they could have drafted a savvy, young player with a solid schematic approach from USC that runs a similar game plan.
In either case, Derek Anderson is not the answer for Cleveland. The Redskins proved as much last week. Romeo Crennel had better find another solution and a tight end. After his decision to defecate in Kellen Jr.’s direction, I am sure neither KII nor his teammates missed the message. Crennel’s days are numbered unless Brady Quinn makes something happen. If Quinn is incapable, that will be Crennel’s LAST head coaching job. He understands that it’s better to crap on secondary offensive options (tight ends) than those that hire.
They’re all going down together. Derek Anderson is pouring the cement.
October 23rd, 2008 at 9:37 pm
There are a couple of teams that may give Vick a shot:
1. Seattle– With Holmgren pending departure and precipitous decline, then combine it with former coach Jim Mora as the heir apparent (without Greg Knapp– former T.O. punching bag). Plus, the current GM is Tim Ruskell who was with the Falcons during the early Vick years.
Vick and Seneca Wallace could be competing as #1 and #2 by next spring.
Mora wants to make a big splash, and wants to win immediately. Vick essentially made Mora a viable head coaching option when the two were paired in Atlanta… Mora doesn’t have to worry about ownership stalking the sideline and Vick wouldn’t have to worry about Greg Knapp being his offensive coordinator.
2. Detroit– This team, this city is DESPERATE. Jon Kitna’s tenure is over. Kitna was more of a tease who couldn’t get the Lions over the hump. The more you saw Kitna throw, the worse he got and last year’s collapse after a 6-2 start shows it was time to go into a new direction. Detroit, a majority black city, would love the prospect of Vick coming to play for the Lions. And Rod Marinelli who is on ‘thin ice’ needs to WIN RIGHT NOW or is coaching career is OVER. Vick will garner a lot of attention and excitement, and that is what Marinelli needs..HOPE
Vick to Calvin Johnson FOR 6… that has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
3. MIAMI– This is a wild card, because Bill Parcels is definitely ‘old school’, but he WANTS TO WIN NOW… Dan Reeves was old school, but feels the pressure of being a coach in his late 60’s trying to get that ONE LAST RING…(remember Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday?) And yes, a backfield of Vick-Ronnie Brown-Ricky Williams would be a devastating combination… All of them are playmakers who can break the game open and cause fear in defensive coordinators.
Plus Miami has an opportunity to gain ground in the up for grabs AFC East. With Tom Brady out for awhile, teams like Buffalo and the Jets are trying to make a move and gain stability and respect as well. New England is functional right now, but beatable– even in 2009. And you add Vick to Miami, and it gives Bill Belicheck something he hasn’t seen within the AFC East since his arrival. And when you surround Vick with talent that team would be a dangerous, formidable opponent.
Other possibilities include:
Baltimore..yeah they got Joe Flacco, but I am not convinced about him being a franchise QB and there is a strong chance Troy Smith can reclaim his starting spot especially if Flacco struggles and Ray-Ray/Terrell Suggs start calling for Troy to be their QB. However for 2009, Vick may be a dark horse candidate with Baltimore.
Kansas City….Herm is in trouble… You got some good personnel on offense with Larry Johnson, Gonzalez and Bowe, but right now have QB issues… Culpepper is rumored to come back and Quinn Gray has signed, but a Vick signing my redirect the anger of the fans for a little while and give Herm, a one year reprieve. For Herm, this is is LAST CHANCE as well and Vick could save his head coaching career.
October 23rd, 2008 at 9:44 pm
With Kellen Winslow on the trading block, a possible destination would be MIAMI OR DETROIT…
Can you imagine Vick having Calvin Johnson 6′5/237 with 4.39 speed and Kellen Winslow 6′4/ 250 as your receivers?
…or in Miami, Kellen’s former college home… Ronnie, Ricky, Kellen and Vick… THAT WOULD DEVASTATING!!! It would rival Marino-Duper-Clayton from twenty plus years ago..
October 24th, 2008 at 1:43 am
Okay Patrick. I’m going to make this easy. Vick is not going to the Lions. The Lions, as you may or may not know, are not a franchise with even a passing interest in actually winning football games. In fact, they only drafted Barry Sanders because it couldn’t have been any other way. He’s the only player that separates them from uninterrupted decades of futility. Winslow ain’t going there either - he knows better OR at least his daddy does.
Baltimore is an option, though I don’t think it’s a very likely option. I like Troy Smith and Flacco. I don’t see a franchise that has recently drafted a QB and allowed him to play extensively looking too long at Vick — unless it’s KC (as you mentioned).
Oh, by the way, what do you envision happening to Matt Hasselbeck next year? Leaving to SF with coach? Getting hit by a bus? If he stays in Seattle, he’s going to be the guy. I don’t like him at all, but he’s not going to get moved out by a less accurate passer — even if it is Vick because MV7 will NOT be the same crowd draw in Seattle as he was in ATL…especially post-Leavenworth.
October 24th, 2008 at 2:07 am
I hear you Patrick and temple. But there is no way that I see Vick going to any of those teams. Maybe Oakland at the most.
And yes temple the Lions haven’t tried to win in 40 years. Plus I don’t see a blk QB getting a real shot with that team.
But I still stand by what I said last year that the league will blackball Vick.
October 24th, 2008 at 2:39 am
If he goes to Oakland, it won’t be as a QB.
In the AFC, the only teams that might be in the market for him (strictly as a player) would be the Jets, Dolphins, and Chiefs. Every other team is fairly set at the position. Even the Jets, arguably, would rather hope that the Kellen Clemens Osmosis Project works out while Brett has the keys to the castle.
In the NFC, I’d say the Vikings, Rams and Niners would be the only options — with San Francisco being the weakest. Vick on turf in Minnesota or St. Louis would probably return to form pretty quickly. Given who these teams have right now, it’s an option. I’m not sure that the Vikings are done with Tavaris. They seemed to be awfully high on him…if they brought in Vick to compete with Frerotte and Jackson, that would say a great deal. The Rams have to be wondering what’s going on with Bulger.
Who knows how this will play out.
October 24th, 2008 at 3:05 am
****Oh, by the way, what do you envision happening to Matt Hasselbeck next year? Leaving to SF with coach? Getting hit by a bus? If he stays in Seattle, he’s going to be the guy. I think Hasselback, who will be 34 next year, will leave with his coach– whether it be San Fran or Cleveland or maybe Minnesota. It is a little bit of a coincidence that Hasselback has missed considerable time this year, but Hasselback’s best days are behind him. And Mora who will be the new coach would want someone he is familar with… and I believe the same thing applies with Hasselback.
San Fran had been a popular suggestion, but if Minny loses (I hate it for Tarvaris up there) and if Cleveland loses ( I hate it for Crennel), then Hasselback could ease into one of those up in the air QB situations in 2009– if he is healthy…
Winning changes things–even in Seattle. Seattle has already lost the Sonics basketball team and the Mariners are limbo…
However, Temple, I concede Atlanta is a different atmosphere than Seattle…however both cities are progressive in their own way…
October 24th, 2008 at 3:18 am
“If he goes to Oakland, it won’t be as a QB.”
I see him as a QB there. But as a back up, I just don’t think america is ready for him to start on any football team let alone at QB. ATL would be a perfect fit because of the large blk population, but thats not gonna happen.
I don’t know Patrick and Temple. I think the brotha will be in Cubans start up football league.
Good ole boy Goodell has a trick up his sleeve. I can see him even suspending Vick after his jail sentence.
I may be wrong brothas but I just can’t see white america as a whole ever giving Vick a fair chance.
October 24th, 2008 at 3:24 am
.”..But I still stand by what I said last year that the league will blackball Vick…”
origin, it is a possibility that he could be BLACKBALLED or some type of collusion could go into efffect, but with Vick being a first-time offender, I just don’t see Goddell taking it to that extreme. As long as Ray Lewis, Leonard Little are able to actively make a living, why wouldn’t Vick be afforded a shot to resume his career.
Vick isn’t Chris Henry, Lawrence Phillips, Rae Curruth or even Pac-Man Jones. I don’t recall vick ever getting into legal trouble in high school, Virginia Tech or the first five years with the Falcons.
Vick got mixed up in a bad situation with unsavory characters that included his own family, but when he finishes paying his debt to society, I doubt very seriously he will be anywhere near trouble again and will choose his friends more carefully.
If Goddell tries to block Vick, I think Vick would take the NFL to court… Vick is only 28 and is in the prime of his career. One of the architect’s of Goddell revised conduct policy is Eric Holder (former Attorney General under Clinton) who is a friend of Billy Martin..
I believe the media has a bigger problem with Vick because the mainstream media criticized Vick for his style of play and had contempt because he was beating the likes of Favre in Green Bay and challenging the other so called traditional pocket passers.
It never really was about dogs, but just keeping VICK out of the game and restricting players like him (i.e. Vince Young) and FUTURE players (i.e Terelle Pryor, Robert Griffin, etc.) and other dual threat QBs from challenging the likes of Manning, Palmer and others…
October 24th, 2008 at 3:26 am
….”I may be wrong brothas but I just can’t see white america as a whole ever giving Vick a fair chance….”
If Obama can win the White House, Vick can get back into the NFL and resume his career and have success…

Brotha Patrick I couldn’t agree more on this part.
Well we shall see………..but white america takes their dogs serious.
Oh well I can’t wait to see how it plays out brotha.
Same with those young kats Terelle Pryor and Robert Griffin I will have to pray for those brothas cause they are gonna make every excuse not to draft these kids.
October 24th, 2008 at 6:12 am
Great points Temple and Patrick, I think Vick will be suspended for 8 games and then maybe go to Detroit or Seattle or St. Louis and Dallas has to win this Sunday against my Bucs because like the Colts their season is on the line. The Boys can’t afford to lose to the Bucs, Giants and Skins and end up 4-6 with six to play so I think they will beat my Bucs because it’s a playoff game in week 8 unfortunately.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Patrick - I agree. Very thoughtful. If you’re digging up Eric Holder-Billy Martin connections, I know you’re Friday Fire is on FULL BLAST!!!!
Thanks for that perspective.

Please, stop all this bullshit about the poor mistreated Kellen Winslow. KW should show some loyalty to the Browns organization considering that he has fucked them over in the past. He willfully defied the conditions of his contract that forbade him specifically from riding motorcycles. Then the idiot goes and tears his ACL in a motorcycle accident. Nice job Kellen. The Browns had every right to recoup some of their financial losses, but they were gracious enough not to pursue it. THEY showed him some organizational loyalty. In Kellen’s mind that favor is not worthy of being returned, and he trashes the Browns to the media. He’s a complete hypocrite who should just shut his trap, even if the staph infection situation has been handled poorly. Other players have a right to complain about it openly, but not Winslow. He has forfeited that right. If he had a major problem with it then he should’ve dealt with it in house instead of crying to journalists about it.
