One final word... Is Vince Young's career over in Tennessee? The season is still relatively 'young', but with the Titans 7-0 start and unprecedented four game lead by Halloween, does this effectively spell the end of VY?

VY could go to San Fran, another QB option besides Vick, but I can't see the Titans keeping VY on the roster?

Vince may have an opportunity to redeem himself in Tennessee IF KERRY GETS HURT, but maybe he should go to a team that respects him as a dual threat QB and give him a consistent, competent support system in much the same way Peyton has or Favre has or Brady has had. It was a very bad sign for former USC QB coach NORM CHOW to be his first NFL QB coach/offensive coordinator. Of all the coaches in the NFL, Tennessee picks a coach that coach Matt Leinart?

However, similar to Tarvaris Jackson in Minnesota, their coaches seem to give a quick 'hook' to black QBs whose won-loss record wasn't the issue, but pressure from the mainstream media that already had an existing contempt for Vince's style of play as a dual threat QB and ultimately the head coach caved in. Vince saved Fisher's job three years ago, and Tavaris' 8-4 W-L record in 2007 help to give Brad Childress new life as a coach. Both Tavaris and Vince are young QBs, so why is their progress scrutinized more harshly than other ineffective young QBs?

Dual threat QBs are generally have more team success and usually make the playoffs within two years or at the least the team is very competitive --especially at the beginning of their careers (i.e. Vick, McNabb, Vince and even Shaun King (1999) when he was with Tampa...)

However, the pressure to have a 'Manning-Montana-Brady' type QB who looks like they can throw pretty spirals is seen as more of a requirement then actually leading your team to victories. Jay Cutler has yet to lead his team to the playoffs after two plus years. Sixth year QB Carson Palmer throws pretty spirals, but isn't much of a leader and his team has only made the playoffs once and in that playoff game he got injured on the very first drive. Alex Smith was allowed to be mediocre for four years without even a playoff berth.

Vince was supposed to be the team's franchise QB, but the organization's poor decision to hire Norm Chow started the demise of Vince Young and it may have ended with Fisher's hasty decision to involve the police into an alleged suicide attempt before getting all the facts. Fisher may regret the way he has handled it, but he may have contributed in undermining a young black QB's career.

Fisher doesn't have a bias towards Young, but he caved-in big-time to media pressure that Vince shouldn't be on the Titans' team. And really the best thing Fisher can do for Vince is to let him go to another team during the offseason.

I was very pleased to see Tennessee possibly put the proverbial nail in Peyton's proverbial coffin and now the Colts face a daunting task of getting back on track versus their perennial nemesis, New England Patriots. I am not a fan of both teams, but it would be cool to see the Colts drop to 3 and 5. I wonder if the fans start questioning Coach Dungy moreso than Peyton Manning? Will this be Dungy's last season in Indy? Only time will tell. I have a lot of respect for Dungy, but the media gives more respect to Peyton for the Colts' success than Dungy. People don't remember that Manning was a coach killer himself and hadn't won any playoff games prior to Dungy's arrival. If Manning is a Hall of Famer, then Dungy should be as well in regards to coaching-- regardless how this 2008 season ends.

Baltimore started the season respectable, and struggled some under the occasionally turnover-prone Joe Flacco. However, the Ravens have rebounded in recent weeks along with the emergence of Troy Smith who was originally slated as the starting QB on opening, but due to illness the job was given by default to Joe Flacco.

Flacco has done alright, I would give him a C as a grade, but the coaching staff has shown a willingness to work in Troy on some 'packages' that included a long pass play to his teammate Joe Flacco.

First year head coach John Harbaugh has been flexible and open-minded in terms of including Troy Smith and I think it provides positive karma for a rejuvenated Raven's team.

Coach Harbaugh had said this after the game: (On the decision to develop a package for Troy Smith)- “Unfortunately he got sick there during training camp and it kind of set him back a little bit. He’s healthy now and he’s ready to roll and we want to make sure that we use him. We want to use all of our guys and he’s a good football player so we want to make sure we get him out there.”

Good going, coach!

*** San Francisco's new coach Mike Singletary is someone who deserves a chance to coach in the NFL. And he certainly made a statement in their blowout loss to the hapless Seattle Seahawks. He made third year mercurial tight end Vernon Davis go to the locker field for his on-field behavior. Was Singletary's reaction over the top? Maybe. And now there are reports he dropped his pants at halftime to personify how Seattle was humilating the team and kicking their butts.

I don't want to see Singletary be turned into a caricature by the mainstream media juts like Jim Mora Sr. PLAYOFF tirade from nearly a decade ago or Denny Green from his tirade in 2006 when he was with he Arizona Cardinals++ we let them off the hook++. Singletary has said he wants WINNERS and I wholeheartedly agree, but their QB situation is not good, and Mike Martz is not someone I would want on my staff if I were Singletary. Singletary is more of an 'old school' coach who rather RUN the ball more than PASS 50 times a game.

With Michael Vick's likely return to the NFL, I believe San Francisco would be a 'possible' good fit. Singletary would be a great role-model for Vick and Singletary wouldn't cave in to media pressure about whether Vick should be given a shot to return to the NFL. Singletary is not afraid to cuss out the media and 'protect' is players. Patrick WIlls, defensive rookie of the year is a great building block, but that team needs more. Vick is a winner. Singletary is a winner. And the 49ers could become relevant very soon.
