Inkognegro: You're right, but Mike Greenwell had several pretty good years after Rice became a DH, and (believe it or not) a guy named Troy O'Leary had a couple of decent seasons before ManRam arrived in '01. O'Leary actually had a plus-30 homerun/plus 100 RBI season somewhere in there. Obviously a "Williams-Yaz-Rice-Greenwell-O'Leary-Ramirez" list doesn't sound as good, but, even including the stiffs, the Red Sox have gotten amazing production from their left fielder for almost 70 years. And, of course, all of them have benefitted from playing in the greatest hitters' park in baseball.

Sorry Jimmy....you got too many stiffs between Jim Rice and ManRam.

Temple's list is almost concurrent.

GNub don't be rockin' the FVSU stuff in a few weeks after those Albany State University Golden Rams run through ya boys in Columbus for the Fountain City Classic. I graduated from FAMU but all my family lives in the Good Life City so I always pull for the school by the Flint River.

Thanks for giving the spotlight to Joey Porter because after an adjustment season last year in Miami he's bringing the pain on and off the field again. He spoke the truth about the NFL's handling of Matt Jones which should have been blown up long before the middle of the season. Del Rio can suspend Mike Peterson for what he calls 'excessive celebration' but let Jones play the whole season because of 'due process' as that tool Kornheiser said today on PTI. I'd have gained more respect for the Jags if the team had told Jones to stay in Arkansas until his case was settled but of course they let him come to training camp and play every game this season. Sheriff Goddell, the quintessential racist fugazi, who's real tough on Black players because they're the easy scapegoats but the white ones like Jones and Jared Allen get games off their suspensions. Real even-handed and fair right there.

Keep blowin' your horn, JP, because these fools will hear you one day soon.

Greg Lloyd was my man and being that he went to my school (FVSU) makes it mo' better.

Joey Porter is also one of my favorites and I was sad when he left for Miami. I still wish he was holding down the outside.

I have to agree w/ T3......the Steelers LBs are the 'ish'!

Merriweather, Nickerson and Gildon were my guys. Chad Brown took the money from Seattle and was never heard from again.

Emmons was one of the best here in Philly but of course they did him dirty. We got Kirkland two years too late.

I know Timmons is en route...but Foote and Farrior are the real deal right now. Florida State rarely sends an LB to the league that can't put in work - Derrick Brooks, Marvin Jones, Kimerion Wimbley, Peter Boulware...don't get me started on them boys outta Tallahassee.

I've argued that the Steeler linebackers are the most dominant unit in the history of professional sports -- right up there with Dodger pitchers and Laker centers.
