Mizzo’s NFL Top Five: The New York Football Giants Are Back On Top

Besides some notable exceptions, the NFL season is pretty much shaping up the way most expected. Two teams some thought would be at the top of the league are now playing in the sandbox after animals squatted. Dallas still has a realistic shot if they could just beat their nemisis, the Philadelphia Eagles. Wow how time has changed…

When you are a defending Super Bowl champion, this is the time of year where the previous season experience comes to the fore. The Giants show and proved they are in fact for real after mounting a furious come back and eventually upending the upstart Carolina Panthers in overtime 34-28. Apply Denny Green quote here. Could they play number 3 in a Super Bowl never seen?

2. Tennessee Titans

Yeah that’s basically what they did to the Steelers. Again, this is money time. Put up or shut up. The Titans threw their guns in the air, bounced Pittsburgh 31-14 and then partied afterward like they just didn’t care.

3. Indianapolis Colts

Don’t hate. This team has won 8 straight. Where else should they be? Don’t be surprised if they aren’t Super Bowl champs. I wouldn’t be. Tony Dungy is a prophet.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers

Yeah, they caught a bad one in Tennessee, but something tells me Mike Tomlin’s men will come back with a playoff swagger they probably needed a few weeks ago. Pittsburgh always seems to have what it takes to win it all. What time is better than now?

5. Carolina Panthers

Another team that tucked its tail and has to regroup. How many of you feel the Ravens should be in this spot? I hear you, but with a running game like Carolina’s trust they are still on point.

I agree. Just one thing are my 49ers number 6 ?

c’MON NOW y’all know if that game had been played in Carolina instead of the crosswinds of Giants Stadium the Panthers would have beaten the Giants in regulation. And the Giants will still lose in the playoffs because I believe Pierce may be charged with accessory before the new year. And what about Lakers – Celtics game Mizzo, this is a playoff -type game in December and the Lake Show needing a win to at least atone for them totally gving up like Pussies last June in game 6.

Merry X-Mas brothas and sistas and blessed New Year

    Go Lakers!!!!

  5. Eric Daniels says:

Michelle, I love my Lakers also but they are soft as a pillow on defense and I don’t hink Gasol and Bynum can man-up and take it to Garnett and Powe.

Steelers are ranked 23rd in offense — after Baltimore and Kansas City.

  7. GrandNubian says:

Twenty-third??? Damn, I don’t ever recalled them being ranked that low before.

  8. Temple3 says:

That’s up from 26 after the Titan game. They did well on offense in that game. This is what I’ve been saying all year. Folks are not really hearing me — but when I’m reserved and talk about the problems in the running game and Ben’s shoulder impacting the deep passing game, this is what I’m talking about…23rd.
