Webber on whether or not the Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in the NBA: “(The Cavaliers) are the most disrespected team in the NBA.  I think it comes down to Cleveland and the Lakers (as the best team in the NBA) and I still give the edge to the Lakers.  (Cleveland) is a good team and we don’t respect them like we should.”

Friday Fire: Who Starts in Your All Time Baseball Lineup?

Posted in Blogroll, Ernie Johnson on January 16th, 2009 by Michael Tillery

My adviser and I had a conversation after Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice were elected into the MLB Hall of Fame. We thought it was ridiculous Rickey wasn’t the first unanimous choice strictly because of his impact on the game. Anyone steal 130 bases lately? Nah. How about 2190 walks? Didn’t think so. You walked him, he scored and he shook up your pitcher and entire defense in the process. Anyway, does Rickey crack your all time lineup? This was my adviser’s lineup: RF Aaron, CF Mays, LF Henderson, 3B Rose, SS Banks, 2B Morgan, 1B Ruth, P  Ryan, C  Bench. I added a manager, right and left handed pitchers and a closer. No position changes in the outfield.

Friday Fire: Pick a Teammate…Any Teammate. Who Ya Pickin’ First?

Posted in Blogroll on January 16th, 2009 by Michael Tillery

This is about the teammate. Not about skill.

Who do you feel safe helping you get the win? Who makes that cut just as you envision it? Who gets open when the rush gives you a window to pass? Who gets to the quarterback when the defense needs a stop? Who with the crack of the bat helps you all walk off? Who helps you off the floor after your shot is smacked four rows into the seats?

You stand on the field or the court and before the game begins, you have your pick of any player alive or deceased on any level. This could be anyone from your youth or someone you rocked with ‘hood to ‘hood, block to block.

Who ya running with?

I’m running with Reggie White because of what he expected out of his teammates and more importantly, himself.
