Chris Webber Gets His Jersey Retired By the Sacramento Kings

It’s crazy sometimes how some athletes win championships and some don’t. Chris Webber was one of the more gifted superstars of his era, but just couldn’t seem to get that last game confetti shine. Though he never won the big one, that doesn’t make him a loser because he’s winning at life and is a great soul model for all children.

I’ve become cool with Webb and have an interview with him in the vault that will enlighten when it’s published. I’ll keep you posted on when and where. I get out to his annual charity event and it’s a great time for an even greater cause. I’ve told him many times my only regret was not being able to document his career from the locker room. Perception is everything. Though he is retired, I’m sure you’ve seen him on NBA TV and his foundation does great work around the country to ensure kids get an uplift when they need it the most.

Last night, Webb’s jersey was retired by the Kings. Must have been a great moment for both Chris and the fans of Sacramento. He and his teammates put the small market franchise on the edge of greatness. Thanks for the memories Chris. Miss your game and your flair and your positive presence. God bless you brotha.

I LOOOOOVEEEE Webb. He is the reason I’m a basketball fan. He not only played skilled smart basketball but he was my greatest show on earth. I spent many nights up past 1am watching Kings games. He is a champion in my book. His title was robbed and then his knees. Congratulations Webb. Your name will live on forever!!!!!

Congrats to C-Webb. Not bad for a guy who didn’t even want to go to Sactown when traded from the Bullets/Wizards.

Could you blame him? Chocolate City to the cow pasture?

  4. michelle says:

    lol

I actually could, Miz, because it wasn’t like he was sent to Inner Mongolia. Forty-one games in Sacramento with the other half of the year on the road in 4-star hotels with millions in the bank. Sounds like a rough life.

I’m just saying there’s no need to dismiss a place out of hand before you get there. Open yourself to a new place and new experiences and maybe it may be a turning point in your life. Looks like it worked out for C-Webb.

Some cats want the limelight. So much was expected coming out of Michigan. I don’t blame him for wanting to win fast and win in a big city.

It did work out. I understand your thinking, but being drafted by Orlando, traded to GS, then DC and finally Sacramento had the brotha saying Damn…

Hated him when he was a King, for obvious reasons. But I love him now. He’s a great person with a strong sense of himself and his heritage. Much props.

    KevDog,

You Lakers fan. LOL! Kobe is now my favorite player. His game killed the Kings time and time again. I can appreciate him now.
