Wonderful group!
Any particular reason why Marcus Jordan chose UCF?
I know the article stated that at UCF he could go in and make an immediate impact but it still seems very odd to me that he would go there. I expected him to go somewhere either in the Big East, ACC or Big 10.
No pressure. When you are the son of the arguable GOAT there will be media scrutiny. UCF is far away from all that.
Ok, understood…..but i’m not sure if he’ll be able to hide in central Florida.
But to play devil’s advocate for a second here…..
Wouldn’t you want to play against the best players in the nation to help elevate your game? His dad would welcome the pressure. Not saying he should be like his dad, but when he gets into the NBA, the pressure is going to be even crazier.
Baby steps bruh. He’s not as good as his Dad (yet). Playing at Illinois would just be ridiculous.
GN:
I always say the EVENT is neutral.
In other words, it’s not about UCF or the fans or the scrutiny. It’s about what Jordan’s son is ready for at this point in HIS life. It’s not about anything more or less than that.
Kellen Winslow’s dad was arguably the GOAT at his position — and KWII went to Miami and played with arguably the greatest collection of NFL talent EVER.
Some guys want to and are ready to play against the best competition. Some guys aren’t. Who knows…if he’s really good, maybe he’ll transfer to Kansas or UCLA or UNC after his sophomore season — nah, not UNC.
T3,
We’d love to have him in Chapel Hill.
He’s probably doing what he thinks is best for him and that’s cool. I’ve read scouting reports on him and the reports are very favorable. The kid is “nice”. In other words, the scouts say he is ready but I guess only he knows for certain.
Hopefully him going to UCF will greatly benefit him and prepare him for the next level.
There is always two sides to the story, but the last few months I have been hearing about Somali pirates off the coast of Somali capturing ships, but there may be another side of the story. Over the past century, Somalia had been controlled by Italy for most of the 20th century and Britain had their stake as well.
Apparently, European countries mainly and others have been dumping nuclear waste along the Somali coast and nothing has been done about it. And remember that worldwide tsunami that affected places such as Indonesia and other areas? Well, the affects of it hit eastern Africa as well and helped to push the nuclear waste onto the shores/inland beaches of Somalia–poisoning its people.

Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, the UN envoy to Somalia: “Somebody is dumping nuclear material here. There is also lead, and heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury – you name it.” Much of it can be traced back to European hospitals and factories, who seem to be passing it on to the Italian mafia to “dispose” of cheaply. When I asked Mr Ould-Abdallah what European governments were doing about it, he said with a sigh: “Nothing. There has been no clean-up, no compensation, and no prevention.”
*********
A spokesman for the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Nick Nuttall, told VOA that for the past 15 years or so, European companies and others have used Somalia as a dumping ground for a wide array of nuclear and hazardous wastes.
“There’s uranium radioactive waste, there’s leads, there’s heavy metals like cadmium and mercury, there’s industrial wastes, and there’s hospital wastes, chemical wastes, you name it,” he said. “It’s not rocket science to know why they’re doing it because of the instability there.”
Mr. Nuttall said, on average, it cost European companies $2.50 per ton to dump the wastes on Somalia’s beaches rather than $250 a ton to dispose of the wastes in Europe.
He said the Asian tsunami dislodged and smashed open the drums, barrels, and other containers, spreading the contaminants as far away as 10 or more kilometers inland.
Patrick:
That’s exactly right.
Those European countries and firms are only doing what Barack Obama’s boy Larry Summers recommended years ago. Dumping in Africa saves money and doesn’t cost lives which they value.
They’re lucky the Somalis are being nice to the crews.
Temple:
The mainstream media needs to shine a light on this illegal dumping of nuclear waste off the coast of Somalia.
This is truly unbelievable, and it seems one of the bigger culprits is Italy, who recently had a devastating earthquake. There are victims in Italy, but there are victims in Somalia as well.
What’s up with Italy? If they can’t dispose it themselves why even use it? And they have been trying to peddle this sh** to Utah and some people protested, and I guess the Italians thought it was a great idea or ‘easy way’ to dump it off the coast of Africa because it has no Coast Guard to monitor their illegal activities.

EnergySolutions Inc. is applying for a federal license to import 20,000 tons of waste from four Italian nuclear reactors, with a portion of it to be buried at its private disposal site in Clive, Utah.
