Mizzo, Michelle….maybe one of you can tell me how its possible that these knuckleheads actually cut up dead animals, strung the intestines around like Christmas lights and left the copy of the editorial under the dead goat’s head…all on the porch of the student newspaper editor….but the only apology is the newspaper for printing the editorial in the first place?? WTF??? You mean this isn’t a criminal THREAT?? They used dead animals to SCARE the editor! And not even a suspension from school?? Really? All over a editorial criticizing the 8-18 baseball team?? TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida’s attorney general is suing a company that makes a dog toy that looks like Michael Vick and is named after the suspended NFL star.
The lawsuit filed Thursday claims Showbiz Promotions said it would give proceeds from the sale of the dog chew toy to animal shelters, but never made any donations.
The lawsuit claims the Jacksonville-based company also sold a doll named for slain toddler Caylee Anthony and promised to give proceeds to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The lawsuit says only $10 has been donated.
A phone number could not be found for the company or its owner, Jaime Salcedo. An e-mail was not immediately returned.
Vick is serving prison time for bankrolling a dogfighting operation in Georgia and Virginia.

You really aren’t surprised are you? Hell it was just a college prank. They only gutted ROADKILL all nasty and decaying while prolly drinking beer and wiping their contaminated hands on their drunk giggling faces. They prolly got laid that night. What harm can come from that?
Its so completely disgusting…they hung up the INTESTINES…OMG! And no one even gets suspended! They get an APOLOGY! I’m so freaking mad about this because if this was the FAMU baseball team, we’d hear about the “future serial killers” on the lead of every news show – and there sure as hell would be arrests and the baseball team would be suspended and PETA would be holding a press conference tomorrow!

This is precisely why CRIME DATA is largely useless except in very specific contexts. There are countless violations of law that are never, ever classified as crimes — and it is dependent on the perpetrator and the victim.
The data capturing violent incidents is almost always a subjective enterprise which is shaped by many factors. People who quote crime stats usually have a credibility problem and, thus, use flawed data sources to make impeachable points.

Wow…thanks T3..I didn’t even THINK about that aspect of it. That just adds to my anger – between the fact that these guys were purposefully using dead animals to intimidate and threaten someone – to the fact that they actually cut up this “roadkill” (I’m so not buying that – yeah, a GOAT was just dead by the side of the road) – and they receive not even a real reprimand.
