NBA Playoffs Last Night: One Shot From Ray Allen Offsets Ben Gordon’s 42

(AP Photo/Elise Amendola)

Damn Damn Damn! What a game. The way Ben Gordon was shooting, I thought he was gonna pat Larry down like Mike did on the left baseline. Ben was en fuego (Temple 3) and hit for 42 on a myriad of difficult positions and angles. So Andrew Toney like he was. But then…

Larry got Mike back huh?

I hope people get off Ray Allen’s back as well. Dude is so professional on and off the court, he was not going to let a 1-12 shooting night get him down.

One shot erased a remarkable performance. Rajon Rondo had a triple double (19,16,12) and played much better defense on Derrick Rose. Glen Davis had a KG like 26 and 8 matching up with college teammate Tyrus Thomas. Leon Powe is out for the rest of the series with a knee injury. Expect a better game out of Pierce. No way he’s shooting 16-40 in the next two. Tyrus Thomas had 6 blocks. Chicago just needed another scorer to eek out this win. Even still, Chicago has to feel great heading home for game three. What an amazing atmosphere that will be. Could this be a rivalry?

I didn’t see this game but obviously Tony Parker’s 38 points jump off the page. Also, 6-22…the combined shooting of Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard. They ain’t winning any games shooting like that. Jason Terry did have 16.

Tim Duncan had 13 in 28 minutes as the Spurs seemed to be on cruise control judging by the box score.

At least the Mavs head home to those plush lockers right?

  1. TC says:

Yeah, how people can ride Mr. Shuttlesworth is beyond me. Dude was born shootin’ J’s. Maybe Dallas has a shot with Ginobili out but as you say, if Josh Howard and Nowitzki misfiring, it’s not happening for sure. Ben Gordon has had a hell of a year.

  2. GrandNubian says:

Like I told Mizz last night on Facebook, Jesus Shuttlesworth is one of the best clutch shooters in the game and he proved it last night. He reminds me of Reggie Miller, with better form and a quicker release. He really turned it on in the 2nd half.

Ben Gordon was shooting like a man possessed. I did not see him miss a hot in the 2nd half, although the stat sheet may call me a liar. :-) He can thank Shuttlesworth for stealing his thunder — and the victory. This is going to be one helluva series.

  3. Mizzo says:

I think you were right brothaman. There were a couple of his shots I thought had no chance of falling and they did. I’ll check the play by play to see if he missed any.

I’m predicting a triple double for the Bull Wonder tonight. He’s been waiting for this game at home his entire life.

  4. Temple3 says:

I see what you’re saying about a rivalry. It’s a very hotly contested series. I think the rivalry aspect of it is fueled by the young big men on the Celtics (Davis and Perkins) and Rondo vs. the young Bulls (Rose, Noah, Thomas, etc.)…then Ben Gordon wants what Ray Allen has. I see where you’re coming from Mizzo…I had to think about it for a minute.

For me, it isn’t so much about Chicago and Boston as it is about the people on the court. Chicago has a chance to “skip the line” if you will by beating the Celtics here and now. They won’t have this chance next year. They won’t surprise anyone. They have to finish Boston off now. If they lose to Boston minus KG and Leon Powe after that brilliant game one, it’s going to be a long offseason.

Time for some Mortal Kombat: “FINISH HIM!!!!!”

  5. Temple3 says:

7 offensive rebounds by a point guard? Wow!!

  6. michelle says:

The youngsters are hanging in there. Great game.

  7. GrandNubian says:

I feel ya T3. Rajon Rondo is becoming a star right before our eyes. He had a monster game last night, made a key steal and hit a big basket to keep the Celtics in the game before Jesus finished them off.
