NBA Playoffs 2009: Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers 2nd Round Preview
Do you really think Kobe Bryant isn’t charged to win an NBA title now after the young King
from Cleveland stifled his march to MVP Mikedom?
Watch him now.
Ron Ron awaits.
Will he climb Mount Yao once again? Ooh, I wanna see it. I want to see the rage fire fury in Kobestack’s skeletal mind. Primitive professionalism with a sense of NBA current star crossed super heroic fantasy.
The stage was set during the season where Artest was giving it to Kobe verbally as Kobe was giving it to RA to the tune of 36.
How in the hell are the fans gonna let the league pull the wool over their eyes just because LeBron is taking real fake pictures pregame?
Are you forgetting the rings, the Phil chasing Red things, the Mike future Kobe mimicking scientifical [sic] madness oozing slow but succinct under the playoff radar?
Man, this is money time. This is Kobe time. There is no player in the league I’d rather have the ball before the clock goes zzzz’s than Kobe Bryant.
Damn, my bad…I could write on this cat all day, but I digress.
Lamar Odom is now the second Kobe and the world have wanted him to be. That right switch I alluded to in the Orlando preview blasted off in his mind as well. I guarantee you it has to do with finally reconciling with the memory of his son. Trust me on that.
He will have a triple double in this series and a couple more before the playoffs cease before June heat shines on Larry O’brien to grace us with the ghost of Mike’s weeping mirror yet again.
Then there’s Phil. If you don’t think he wants to pass Red, you are a fool. He can say all he wants to the press, but you know damn well he deep down is one of the true competitors the league has ever seen since the days Clyde put up close to 40 and 20 to Reed’s amazement…or not.
Yeah the history.
The triangle will not be compromised. Derrick Fisher and Jordan Farmar are veteran enough to ensure the Lakers get into their sets regardless of the assumed and sometimes overrated defensive pressure of Shane Battier.
Pau Gasol is gonna have his hands full keeping Luis Scola out of the paint. If you ever get a chance to take in a Rockets game, you have to see his approach to rebounding. He really is one of the best I’ve seen at getting position. His offensive game is limited, but Gasol is going to have to dominate this match up.
Is Andrew Bynum going to show up? Yeah, the young fella is coming off a serious knew injury, but for the Lakers to claim that summer shine, he’s got to be a major contributor. Yao is gonna murder him from the outside as well as down low if he’s not on point.
Ron Artest considers his talent top level in the NBA and I wholeheartedly agree. On any given night, dude can dominate both ends of the floor. I call him “knee caps and all that” when driving the lane and during this time of year, his skills are highlighted. You have to play defense in this league if you want to win it all and his is the brand of strength and psychological power both in the low post and on the perimeter. He won’t guard Kobe the entire game, but damn sure most of it. If Kobe can stand being bothered as someone guards his ankles then the Lakers should prevail. He’s another cat you have to see up close to appreciate. He’s not as crazy as you think, he just plays a crazy dude on TV. Trust.
Aaron Brooks looks to get off in every game he’s a part of. His rise allowed the Rockets to trade Rafer Alson after Orlando’s Jameer Nelson went down. He’s super quick with quirky moves to the basket and will split the defense at every opportunity. I don’t know if Derrick Fisher can handle him off the dribble. What say you?
Trevor Ariza will obviously be important in transistion and in spurts when the Lakers need threes off the secondary break. He will also have to play stellar defense all over the floor.
The coaching match up isn’t worth mentioning. We all know who has the edge there. The Lakers just have too much for me to give the Rockets the edge even though this team is a bad match for the Lakers. They have to put the Rockets way early so Yao can rest that knee.
Lakers in six.
Good stuff Mizzo. I think Lakers will get it in five but maybe six.
The uphill climb begins.
For the Lakers to win in 6, they’ll need to win 4 of the next 5 including 2 in Clutch City.
I suppose it can happen. Either way, they’re going to have to grind it out. Since the first game was a WWF match, it can only get bloodier.
The playoffs are a different game. First, the officiating is normally tighter. This will favor Yao because he is basically fouled on every play. If he gets only half the calls he will be at the line 10 to 15 times every game. Secondly, LA has nobody to match up with him. They will have to double him and that allow Scolla to really hurt Portland. I think the playoff format favors Houston. So, I think it goes 7. Also, I was surprized how easily Brooks beat Fisher in game 1. I think Fischer has had it, stick a fork in him, he’s done.
Fisher is a piece of shit who desperately needs an ass beating. I knew Kobe talked shit, but after every shot? Really? He’s one of the most unsportsmanlike players I’ve ever watched. Rockets are going to win the series, end of story.
hey asshole yea chris i am talking to you dont talk shit about the lakers man we are goin to beat houston no doubt ok.go lakers!!!!!!!!!!1
I’m not talking shit about the Lakers, I’m talking shit about the unsportsmanlike players the Lakers employ. They’re trash.
kobe’s rage? lol, kobe bryants team are now in game 7 against a team with no “superstars”. If the Lakers win, they are still humiliated. They are not a championship team anymore.
