Thursday Morning Starting Five: The Dammit I Missed the Playoffs Last Night Edition

Gotta make the doughnuts. I’d be stupid to complain of having a job in this economy, but missing the playoffs at night is wick, wick, wack. If I’m not texting everyone I know at all kinds of crazy hours, I’m literally going crazy trying to get the results. I hope you all had a good night. It’s 6:27 and after I post this, I’m crashing like J.R. Smith. Anyone need me, text me and I’ll get back to you when I wake up from battling Rip Van Winkle for the most zzzz’s. Be Peace.

Oh…

Question for the TSF fam…Do you want me to report baseball scores? If you want me to, I will. It’s up to you. Anyone notice the reemergence of the stolen base?

Mizz…. you might have a piece coming.

    http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2009/04/06/jose-canseco-says-90-chance-manny-ramirez-is-on-steroids-list/

Jose Canseco put out Manny Ramirez’s name about a month ago to the press, which was very odd at the time.

It is what is, or maybe it isn’t. Was Manny set up?

Canseco, in my opinion, is likely to have been a government informant for the Bush Justice Department and this is Canseco’s last opportunity to get his last fifteen minutes of fame.

I am Braves fan, but I root for the Dodgers as well.

Manny as been an increasing target over the last couple of years by the mainstream sports media (Manny being Manny) in essence questioning his intelligence and to a degree his character. It wasn’t the same type of persecution Vick received, but Manny draws this type of mainly white outrage or contempt. And Manny may have under-estimated that wave of anger and (also A-Rod)… and it may be an effort to invalidate minorities who are approaching the HR and offense records of baseball. Plus to pump up the Babe Ruth crowd and Mike Lupica/Costas/ Joe Buck ‘pure baseball’ crowd…

Manny ain’t going to jail, but it looks to be a smear job…

The word on the street is that Manny got suspended for 50 games.

I think the jury will be out on exactly what was the banned substance that he took — and the circumstances under which he took it.

Frankly, dude looks a little too chunky all over to fit the profile…but maybe it’s all been a baggy clothes charade to mask an unbelievably ripped frame. I’m going to wait on this one. We will see what we see.

  4. Temple3 Says:

With that — all of this was easily avoidable and it’s 100% on him.

  5. Mizzo Says:

I was wondering why the Yankees didn’t sign him…or any other team for that matter.

  6. James Beale Says:

Forget reporting the scores, I want to report baseball games. The time and access you get in clubhouses is the day to the night you get in locker rooms. Put that together with your interviewing and there is a world of stories out there for the telling.

  7. Mizzo Says:

It’s hard to get in bruh. Totally different atmosphere than other sports…as you say. Love it in there. Maybe I need some hCG…

Ron Artest is really trying to stay under control, but Artest is so unpredictable (if he feels disrespected) he might just choke out Kobe on the court on national TV if he gets elbowed by Kobe.

  9. Russell Says:

Patrick, your conspiracy theories of the true origin of the problems Manny and ARod are having are a load of totally unsubstantiated crap. If you need a recent history less, I could rattle off half a dozen infractions of each of these guys that pisses off a vast wider swath of people than just snowflakes.
