Monday Morning Starting Five: The Big Baby Is All Grown Up Edition

Hope you all had a great Mother’s Day weekend. Hold ya Moms down people…everyday. Some links inside and out of sports. Why is everyone saying Glen Davis trucked that kid? Yeah, he pushed him aside, but damn. The hype…

Big Baby goes star maybe. If I was Van Gundy, I live and die with that shot. He better hope Ray Allen doesn’t wake up. (Boston.com)

Aaron Brooks continues his playoff step up. Lakers are in a dog fight. They don’t look boss right now. Ron Ron and Scola are punking them in the interior. I love the old school mentality Artest has brought to Houston. Expect a big game out of he and Kobe in Game 5. (L.A. Times)

Yeah, kinda irrlevant, but since I’ve become acquainted with Claudia Jordan (Sup with that interview CJ?) the last few years at Webb’s, I’d hoped she would win Celebrity Apprentice. Sike, nah…Joan Rivers won?. (NY Times)

    Powerful interview w/ Miles.

Garrett Anderson is the only African-American on the Atlanta Braves roster, but I believe he regrets signing with the Braves.

Anderson had been slowed by a hamstring injury, and Braves management wanted to send him to the minor leagues for ‘rehab’, but Garrett said no…

Braves management don’t like uppity black players and Schuerholz probably had a David Justice flashback.

I believe when the Braves fall way out of contention prior to the trading deadline, Garrett will demand a trade…

Schuerholz doesn’t like be told what he can’t do….if its Chipper (okay) or Glavine (okay), but Garrett Anderson (a 15 year veteran with a W.S. ring), hell no !*!

    >>>>…”The Braves asked him to go on a brief minor league rehabilitation assignment; he said no. Under the collective bargaining agreement players must consent to a rehabilitation assignment, so Anderson is within his rights to say no. Still, the Braves cannot be thrilled that a player who struggled to find a job and has been slowed by injury three times since the start of spring training would not test his legs and take a few swings in the minors…..”

Couldn’t read the housing story on the FEMA-Bush-icane. Katrina gets a bad rap. “She ain’t do it. They did it.” The busted levees were all the result of human CHOICE. George Bush created this mess and sadly lives to tell his confused tale of woe. Obama barely found his way to New Orleans after the devastation — but I’m sure he’ll fix this. Right?

Stroke of a pen stuff. No problem.

Cheney is talking up a storm, and now wants to have a ‘debate’ about torture–right now. The former vice-president knows he has broken the law (deliberately), but what he is trying to do is control the discussion or re-define the Constituion, and in essence try to make it into a political issue (talking point) for 2010.

I feel Obama and Eric Holder wants to prosecute Cheney, but after Robert Gates is OUT as Secretary of Defense and when the Afghan and Iraq wars are pretty much concluded, and it may be as early as the spring of 2011.

Cheney is desperate (and apprehensive about what Obama and Holder will do) and is trying to bring Nancy Pelosi into the argument as if she approved the Bush administration tactics.

…”In this lawless paradigm, public awareness of government misconduct is cited as a justification for placing government officials above the law..”

Obama must stay focused in improving the economy and implementing his own vision of foreign policy, but Cheney is crazy like a fox–literally and figuratively.

If Cheney can pull Obama into a ‘feud’, it may be an effort to win back independents…

    On a hoopier note:

That was a huge shot by young Mr. Davis. I had this feeling that that jumper could very well define and redefine the Orlando Magoc franchise for years to come.

If Davis misses, the Magic jump out to a 3-1 series lead and very likely prevail in five or six games. The team would go on to face Cleveland and reduced expectations. No one expects the Magic to beat Cleveland. They’ve played well against them this season, but everyone expects the coronation of the King to continue.

Davis made the shot. Now, it’s tied 2-2 and the Cetlics need only win 2 of 3 at home. Orlando really has their work cut out for them. The burden of expectations is squarely on the backs of the Magic. Boston has already exceeded expectations. They’re playing WITHOUT Kevin Garnett and Leon Powe. They don’t have a discernible interior presence. They’re two aging legends; an unorthodox point guard; and some muscles (muskells — in Popeye voice!)

The Magic is struggling with this team???

Pressure. Hedo felt it last night. He couldn’t have made a shot of whisky from the bar.

If Boston wins this series, do the owners decide that Stan Van has to go? Do people begin to think that for all his “Superman” antics, Dwight Howard is still too young to lead; too young to demand the ball; too young to knock domes and break bones on the block? Looking ahead to next year, do the owners really think this team will beat Boston (with Garnett) or Cleveland or an improved Miami team? What about the 76ers?

Orlando may have just watched a Big Baby chuck the keys to the castle right into the moat.

Given who actually runs the economy of this thing called the United States of America, what does Obama really have to do? From the looks of things, he (like his predecessors since 1913) has been demoted to the position of cashier. I believe he just delivered the last big payment to his bosses for some time now. What’s left to be done?

Going through pockets for loose change?

  7. Mizzo says:

I agree with all points right there bruh. Everything.

  8. Patrick says:

Pac Man seems to always land on his feet…the Jets are apparently showing interest.

A few months ago ESPN thought they could ‘railroad’ Pacman just like they did Vick with the shadowy informant– this time saying Pacman tried to arrange a hit job on someone. Pacman threatened to sue BSPN and few days later the network released the name who made that accusation and it was someone already on trial for murder in Atlanta. And ESPN tried to knock on the door of district attorneys and the Feds in an effort to get someone to bite, but Pac Man standing up for himself (against the powerful ESPN) may have helped him.

Wanda Sykes said Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker on 9/11…

    LOL

Some in the media say she went to far:

Before her performance on Saturday, Sykes told “Extra’s” AJ Calloway that she had been warned to keep it clean.

“They told me not to say the F word or the N word,” she said. “I’m offended they even told me that. What do they think? I’m some ignorant a**. Like I’m going to go in there, ‘What’s up n*****. Like what the f*** they think I’m going to do?”

  10. Temple3 says:

Wanda is a comedian for adults. She does good work — and has for a long time. I’m glad she was able to deliver her message — regardless of how well they are received in certain places. It matters not. She said it. If someone wants to defend Limbaugh — have at it. That Oxycontin, missed flight stuff is hilarious.

    He brought it on himself.
