Wow...just wow.

The best part of participating in a blog with such intelligent regular posters as this one, is that I know the regulars will read the above response from Ledbetter on why that pic was in that AJC blog and have the very same "WTF" moment that I did. That response was absolutely Palin-worthy.

Digging the flow here. Grammar is rough and needs an edit. But skipping over that. (Forney was gone, probably said Clabo). Don't know the AJC's plans for Vick, post being on the Falcons roster. He drives hits, so he probably won't be forgotten.

Ms. Miranda: I put the water bottle picture in there because I TOOK THE PHOTO. HAD TO GO to Miami 3 weeks before the Super Bowl for Mike's foolishness. Used the FOIA to get all of the evidence from the Miami-Dade prosecutors. Took the pictures of the evidence WITH MY CAMERA PHONE and sent them to the office. Was stunned they were still in the archives so I put them in the blog.

Sista Miranda your father is a very intelligent man, just like his daughter.

Anyway good break down Patrick. But if that happened in 2010 the NFL would officially shut down........LOL!!!

And you are right Culpepper received tons of hate in his days with the vikings.

Even Mike Tice when he was the coach pointed out how the racist were attacking culpepper. I remember that fools on Fox pregame show tried to make it seem that Tice was making a big to do about nothing.

"Mike Tice, the Minnesota coach, told the Saint Paul Pioneer Press that Culpepper's race "is an issue, and I'm disappointed that it's an issue. It's a shame that that has to come into play, when you have a young man of Daunte's character."

"Jon Entine, who is white, and author of the book, Taboo: Why Black Athletes Dominate Sports and Why We Are Afraid to Talk About It, told the newspaper: "Anyone who says we see athletes as just athletes is very naive. I don't think we'll ever grow past this. I just never heard anyone say, 'Cade McNown is a bad white quarterback.' But they somehow always attack the blackness of an African-American quarterback who is struggling in the same way.''

Miranda:

What comes around, goes around... the NFL and parts of the mainstream sports media (local and national) are definitely fighting to limit, restrict or eliminate the impact of the African-American QB (dropback or duel-threat). The learning curve is significantly shorter and the pressure to win immediately is required for black QBs. Vick, Culpepper, McNabb, Vince and even Shaun King with Tampa accomplished that... Tarvaris Jackson can be a good QB, but Minnesota's coaching staff has been undermining his growth since his rookie year. Same thing for Vince Young.

Peyton Manning didn't win his first playoff game until 2003 (when Tony Dungy arrived)...

When Texas-El Paso beat Adolph Rupp's Kentucky team, it sent shockwaves through the sports world and within years that glass ceiling on the Division I was broken and having an African-American lead your team was possible whether it was on the college or pro level.

Anything is possible, but what if this happens:

2010 Pro Bowl

AFC
Tennessee- Vince Young
Jacksonville-David Garrard
Oakland-Jamarcus Russell

NFC
San Francisco-Michael Vick
Philadelphia- Donovan McNabb
Detroit-Duante Culpepper
(Alternate)- Washington- Jason Campbell

This disturbing Pro Bowl scenario would be a nightmare for the old school NFL ...I wonder what Trent Dilfer and Mark Schlerth would say or even Skip Bayless ...LOL

Origin,

McNabb and Vick sort of came in under the radar and both did take their teams from the bottom to the top. McNabb was booed by his own Philly fans when he was first drafted, and Vick's QB skills were questioned the moment he was drafted and the media believed Chris Chandler would be there for at least three more years as Vick learned to "read defenses", because he had only thrown 300+ passes in college.

The 2002 season was a shock, and when Vick beat Farve in Lambeau Field got a lot of the old school critics worried, and then the McNabb-Vick matchup happened again in 2004 (in the playoffs)...

I just remembered an AP photo of then-Viking Duante Culpepper, Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick standing side-by-side at the 2005 Pro Bowl with no Brett Favre in sight or Kurt Warner or Jake Delohmme or Carson Palmer.

It was a disturbing picture for old-school folks who always questioned the black QB's role, and the mainstream media didn't take this lying down...

Since the 2005 Pro Bowl: McNabb had to deal with remnants of the Rush Limbaugh comments, then the media firestorm with Terrell Owens and the perception that McNabb is not really a leader and overrated ....

(After that 2005 Pro Bowl) McNabb's career was interrupted and didn't return to the NFC title game until 2008 when he almost lost his job at mid-season. McNabb didn't face criminal prosecution, but faced a selective, rigorous media persecution from the sports media.

For Culpepper: ..."On December 14, 2005 Culpepper and three other players were charged with indecent conduct, disorderly conduct and lewd or lascivious conduct for their involvement in the 2005 Minnesota Vikings boat cruise scandal, according to court papers and news reports. The maximum penalty they could have faced was 90 days in jail.

His defense contended there was racial discrimination among the prosecution. On April 4, 2006, however the charges against Culpepper were dropped owing to a lack of probable cause...."

Minnesota had an ownership change as well, and they clashed and the media had come down hard on Culpepper. Duante had matched Peyton's stats yard for yard, but the media was more than happy to 'pile-on' and smear Culpepper's professional/personal reputation which preceded the break up of the the Culpepper-Moss combo..it's funny that Vikings never had a true franchise RB until Culpepper left, when Minnesota eventually drafted Adrian Peterson...

..and with Vick (well you know the story...)

Three black QBs (at the top of their games) with different styles whose careers took different turbulent turns within two years of the 2005 Pro Bowl...I am not saying its a conspiracy, but Eli, Peyton, Drew Brees, Warner, Hasselback, Delohmme and especially TOM BRADY (Mr. Spygate) were benefactors of the media's increased scrutiny of McNabb, Vick and Culpepper who were in the prime of their careers...

Here's one of the 'disturbing' photos:

The National Editor for Forbes's sports & money section now has a new fan in me:

Free Michael Vick
Michael Vick spent 19 months in prison for financing a dog fighting operation and was released yesterday under home confinement. The 28-year-old must now be totally free to do what he is most capable of doing—quarterbacking an NFL team.

Vick has served his time under the law. He should not have to bend over backwards and do summersaults to prove anything to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Vick should not have to kiss the butt of the Humane Society or assist the animal rights group in any way. He should not have to “donate” any of his future earnings to any causes to repent. The law is the law. Vick broke it and paid the price. It is now time to completely free him.

Origin you know I'm a firm believer that half the hate towards Vick was about what he did on the field of the Georgia Dome and the other half was about the people in the stands of that Georgia Dome.

Also not to mention Vick doing this in a mostly black city.

Man you see all those black folks in the stand with the hawks?

Like I said before let teh hawks keep winning. Joe Johnson or Hortford might be next.

Great points everyone.

Also Patrick I still think the PTB look at Mcnabb as a threat. But there is a difference between he in Vick.

Vick was a kid from the country, dark skin, didn't grow up in teh suburbs like Mcnabb. Was 2 year starter in college who came out as a soph. Where as Mcnabb did the 4 year thing.

See all these things made Vick a greater threat and the fact that he was going to be just as successful as Mcnabb. Those 2 could have rotated every year being in the conf. Championship. That scared folks more then anything that fact that 2 black QBs could dominate the position. Not only that but 2 black Qbs that single handedly took garbage teams deep in the playoffs.

One black QB doing this can be an anomaly..........but 2 is a trend.

Ok well Patrick pretty much wrapped this one on up. You got a player on the Falcons roster that took his girlfriend's puppy and out of anger towards her, slammed said puppy up against a wall with enough force to kill it.

Naw...most definitely can NOT be about the animals.
