NBA Playoffs 2009: Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers 2nd Round Preview

Posted in Blogroll on May 5th, 2009 by Michael Tillery

Do you really think Kobe Bryant isn’t charged to win an NBA title now after the young King from Cleveland stifled his march to MVP Mikedom?

Watch him now.

Ron Ron awaits.

Will he climb Mount Yao once again? Ooh, I wanna see it. I want to see the rage fire fury in Kobestack’s skeletal mind. Primitive professionalism with a sense of NBA current star crossed super heroic fantasy.

The stage was set during the season where Artest was giving it to Kobe verbally as Kobe was giving it to RA to the tune of 36.

How in the hell are the fans gonna let the league pull the wool over their eyes just because LeBron is taking real fake pictures pregame?

Are you forgetting the rings, the Phil chasing Red things, the Mike future Kobe mimicking scientifical [sic] madness oozing slow but succinct under the playoff radar?

NBA Playoffs 2009: Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics 2nd Round Preview

Posted in Blogroll on May 5th, 2009 by Michael Tillery

Short but neat. How will the Celtics deal with the Magic spreading the floor?

The most recent seminal moment in Magic franchise history was the demolition of the Philadelphia 76ers without Dwight Howard in Game 6.

Three players stood out: Rashard Lewis, Rafer Alston and J.J. Redick. There was fire in their eyes and they all matured just a little more in the span of a game.

Dwight Howard is a freak of nature. There are very few players in league history that can combine his size, strength and athleticism…especially at his age. He mos def needs a Shaq streak in him, but obviously there is time. I just want  to see that gear we all want to see. Before Game 6, AG and I spoke with a couple of radio journalists from ESPN about Howard and what it would take for him to become that dude.

I didn’t think it was out of the ordinary for him to have a 40/30 game…mainly because of the absence of comparable big men. It’s my opinion that’s why Howard catches so much wreck. He is literally a boy (in age people, see the difference) playing amongst men. Straight Gulliver.

The world could be his.

Joe Johnson and the Atlanta Hawks Defeat Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat in Game 7

Posted in Blogroll on May 4th, 2009 by TwinCities

Atlanta is a star obsessed city. When Fortune 500 CEO’s, Hip Hop and R&B royalty, and numerous athletes across the sports spectrum call a city home, the residents become numb to celebrity. That being the case, it takes the biggest, brightest and most amazing to bring Atlanta’s influential out of seclusion and into daylight’s gleam. Dwyane Wade is a star. There was a fair number of Miami Heat #3′s in the crowd, and for good reason. The Olympian, All Star, and MVP candidate is one of the premier players in the league and he flashed that talent many times over. This game, and ultimately this series however, belonged to someone else.

Joe Johnson claimed his spot amongst the league’s elite Sunday afternoon and showcased a skill set that makes him the kind of singular talent teams long for.

Friday Fire: What Do You Think About the 2009 NBA Playoffs So Far?

Posted in Blogroll on May 1st, 2009 by Michael Tillery

Yeah there’s only been one round played (or yet to play), but there seems to be something special coming out of this year’s second season. Lakers vs. Cleveland? LeBron vs. Kobe? Chauncey Billups and to a lesser extent, Jason Kidd showing the young fellas what got them here, Dwight Howard elbows…is the Boston/Chicago series one of the best first round match ups of all time? Who knows? Ron Artest crackin’ brawl jokes, Skip and J.J. Redick’s pre May Day Sixers party crash, Derrick Rose…Ray Allen going 51? Melo getting out of the first round…Andre Miller underrated? Andre Iguodala a star? Hedo? Stan Van Gundy? Dirk and Josh? Detroit and San Antonio will watch? What? Talk to me.

Jeremy Tyler has chosen to shovel his way out of the sleazy world of youth sports. Whether this move proves to be audacious or audaciously stupid remains to be seen.
