Hall of Fame Boxer Alexis Arguello Found Dead at 57

82-8 with 65 of his wins coming by knockout. Alexis Arguello was a beast. He was everything that was great about boxing during his career. A career that saw him win 3 world titles in 3 different weight classes–the sixth fighter to do so. He was a smooth yet classic boxer. Passionate, hard hitting, determined and talented. His battles with Aaron Pryor were top notch during a great time for the sport.

Well, sad to report, but it appears the ex-champ and current mayor of Managua, Nicaragua…his birthplace…committed suicide via gun shot wound to the chest. An autopsy is being performed to find the exact cause, so please withhold judgment. So much death is going around. Do not take anyone for granted.

Sandinistas – Contras – Gary Webb – Danilo Blandon – Freeway Rick – WaPO – NYT – LAT – Ronald Reagan – Oliver North – George Bush – cocaine – crips/bloods – LA’s white gangs of the 1950′s – LAPD of the 1960′s – South Central — last train stop before downtown LA — all Louisiana/Texas nigras OFF THE TRAIN – Daniel Ortega – Marxist – Communist – Capitalist – Goldman Sachs – Barack Obama.

Yeah, I’m sure folks will have lots to say about Arguello — and they’ll try to redefine the Nicaragua of his life into some fictional Banana Republic of their imagination.

Arguello came from a time in boxing where fighters took on all comers. They fought the best fighters in there weight divisions because they wanted to prove they were champions. It wasn’t about pay per view numbers. Nowadays, boxers wait for the prettiest match ups so they can display there skills against less talented opposition and make the big pay day. Smarter, maybe. Diminshing to the sport, definitely. There is no way I put up pay per view money to see these paper battles of today. When I say paper battles I mean the fights look good on paper but real boxing fans know when a fighter is undermatched and it has nothing to do with won-loss record either.
