To be honest, I think this whole Detroit Pistons squad just quit. I think they quit a long time ago. I think they quit before Michael Curry and Allen Iverson even got here. And it wasn't just one person's fault; the whole atmosphere was just one of... malaise. Maybe that's why Chauncey Billups flourished when he left. But I can see it in the body language of not just Sheed, but of everyone else. Look at Tayshaun Prince. It's obvious that he needs a hug. Look at Rip: He's aging by the minute. That is a team that needs rejuvenation. I don't know how that environment will change in the Ben Gordon/Charlie V era, but something is rotten in Motown, I can tell you that. So maybe that's what I saw in Sheed's demeanor over the last coupla seasons.

Temple3:

"Rather than ask him to show a little interest, you should holler at him about why he’s migrated from the box to the perimeter — and whether there is a correlation with officiating of his offensive game."
------------------------

This "migration" is what I'm talking about. I LOVE the fact that Sheed has 3-pt range, but he just seems content to jack up threes and average 12 ppg when he could be doing so much more. And it isn't even about the numbers. I would be fine with him averaging a dozen on the right team. It just seems TO ME like he's not really into it anymore. And I don't think his body is breaking down. I think it's mental. That's why I don't agree that he'd do well ANYWHERE. I think he'd be phenomenal in Boston. KG would light a fire under his ass, and we'd see Roscoe again. But that's just my take. I could be completely off the mark.

Tariq --

I am being somewhat facetious. At the end of the day, it's like Russell Crowe's character said in Gladiator.

"ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!?!?!"

His matches, too, were scripted. Got to give the people...

Tariq:

By "show a little interest," I believe you really mean -- "Act as if the games from which you derive your livelihood are NOT predetermined charades controlled by ownership, the Commissioner, and his compromised officials with ties to organized crime.

Act as if you need this game more than I do -- so that I can justify spending as much time as I do blogging and watching this predetermined charade.

Act as if you CARE about ME!!"

I think that's what you're saying.

I think Rasheed is to old and too fundamentally honest about these obvious contradictions to EVER AGAIN show interest. I think you got his INTEREST in 2000 (and the refs contributed mightily to undermining that) -- and you got it again from 2004 to 2007 (and some would argue that the refs did the exact same thing in several series).

Rather than ask him to show a little interest, you should holler at him about why he's migrated from the box to the perimeter -- and whether there is a correlation with officiating of his offensive game.
