It’s really crazy that Michael Vick has been reduced to scoring two touchdowns in a place where he scored so many times before.  He’s better than that. Yes this was a therapeutic moment, but why does he have to pay homage to the purveyors of NFL jurisprudence?

I’d be happy too if I finally was able to show the skill set that made me one of the most electrifying athletes to ever lace ‘em up in any sport. .

I’d be happy too if I heard my name chanted in a place that is not just my home, but home home.

I’d be happy too if fans left not only because they are Falcons fans, but because they are upset I’m not still doing what I’ve done for them for most of my adult life.

I’d be happy too if the Philadelphia coaching staff finally gave me the opportunity to show the league I still have it and despite being so tenative after so much deserved and undeserved scrutiny.

Do you realize how crazy the last three years have been? If it wasn’t for Mike we might still be talking about Don Imus. Remember, his story kicked that transgression out of Earth?

Yeah, this is for his fans…fans like Miranda and the rest of the population of Atlanta. This is for those who have loved and supported him when he needed it the most.

This should have been on national TV. Say what you want about Brett winning a championship and not getting into trouble, but this game was just as big.

Did MV7 really do anything that compares to winning a championship? No, but this is a start. This is a beginning to a long road back to Mike becoming who he is now, not who he was. It’s over for that.

I spoke with someone within the Falcons organization and was assured the boos happened when Mike walked off the field. Of course you are gonna have some people who have a different opinion of Mike who booed their asses off, but for the most part there was all love.

Fans there saw what Mike gave to them. They consider Mike family so why should they turn their back on them for getting into trouble? Didn’t he serve his time? Doesn’t he deserve another chance despite what YOU may think?

This is not about you. This is about him, his family, the two organizations, the NFL and its fans.

Donovan once again showed class by stepping aside and letting Mike have his moment. It was very peace to see Michael Vick genuinely smile.

Andy Reid deserves mention as well for giving Mike the opportunity. Some coaches would have balked in what is an ultra conservative league. I’ve spoken to Andy on a few occasions and trust he’s not one to go against any grain…especially his own.

The Eagles have a lot of talent. What will the playoffs show us?

Good piece mizz. The radio personalities here in the “A” are upset that Andy Reid allowed Vick to come in, launch a 46 yd bomb and then throw a 5 yard TD pass. Some of them even said or suggested that Andy Reid tried to “show up” Arthur Blank and the Falcons by allowing Vick to come in and do his thing. Correct me if i’m wrong but isn’t Andy Reid responsible for his team and NOT the Falcons?

However, the REAL truth of the matter is that these same radio personalities are upset because:

1.) Michael Vick is back in the league and making millions
2.) He is STILL beloved here in the ATL, despite what the haters may say or think
3.) The fans wanted to see him come in and do well
4.) There were more cheers for him than boos.
5.) The Falcons organization were embarrassed on national television.

I have just three words — “GET OVER IT!!!!!”

I give respect to Andy Reid for understanding how much this game meant to Vick by making him a team captain, allowing him to lead the team out of the tunnel and give him the opportunity to show the world that he still “got it”. So what if the Vick haters are upset? It’s called “karma”. After all the hate that was showcased before and especially during Vick’s downfall, it was only right that he come back here and tell the haters to eat a d*ck by throwing a TD pass and running for another. His actions spoke and his TRUE fans spoke even louder by cheering him on. Like Miranda said, it couldn’t have been scripted any better in a movie.

The love for Vick in the Dome on Sunday was a thing to behold because it wasn’t so much a game as a celebration of Vick by his fans. The people in the ATL have no love the Eagles normally but they do love MV7 and still appreciate what he gave to the hometown team. Patrick and I both talk about this past summer how Black superstar athletes are treated in this town and the fact there was a segment of Falcons fans had no use for Vick even before the allegations because he wasn’t the golden boy QB they wanted. To paraphrase Jim Gordon in The Dark Knight: (Vick) wasn’t the (QB) they wanted but he was the one they needed. The Falcons are going to remember that after another instance of being unable to put together back to back winning seasons.

Let me make what I’m about to say clear also but the redneck contingent that’s always just under the surface here came out after the game on 790′s post game show when a caller said the Falcons shouldn’t be playing in the “inner-city” because the real fans don’t come to the games. We all know what he meant by that which was that all those “coloreds” in there rooting for that con-Vick were ignorant negroes who don’t deserve to be treated with respect due to paying White customers. SMH and reminds me the only reason I’ll ever live here again is for my son.

  3. Miranda says:

GN, HD…one of my friends emailed me early this morning and said to listen to 790…..and I’ve kept it there all day…I think they were worse today than they were yesterday. They are soooooooooooooooooooo mad with negroes RIGHT NAH! WHEW! LMAO…..my goodness! These are some angry Gawgians right about nah!

  4. Origin says:

Wow I need to hear those fools on 790 tomorrow. I was listening to them Sunday evening but the watts are so weak you can’t hear the station pass the city limits.

Brotha Harvey I have always loved ATL, but there is a great divide in that city. Its a city in which black folks make over 50% of the population. Not only that but there is such a large middle and affluent class of black folks in that city. Its truely a black Mecca. Now I can’t speak on DC I haven’t been there before. Also I know places such as the suburbs of detroit (Palmer Woods) have a extreme amounts of black wealth. But I am only talking citys.

I can remember talking to my cousin at xavier (N.O) and all of her friends talking about moving to ATL once they graduated and become doctors. Or how the majority of black folks that I graduated with in college who moved……..left to go to ATL. And if they moved somewhere else like Texas they only went there because they couldn’t find a job in ATL. It just seemed like every black college kid from the sout who lived outside of ATL, Miami or Texas wanted to move to ATL.

ATL is a unique city…….different then any other city that I have been to that is prodominently black (Gary, Jackson, N.O., Memphis, Detroit). I mean this is a place where you will actually see black faces at NBA and NFL games. Not just a sprinkle here and there but tons of black faces. I mean where else in America do you see that???

IMO this is where the hate comes from. The bigots can’t get away from us. Everywhere you turn there are people who look like us. From professionals, to VPs to doctors, to middle class and poor. Its black folks living just as well if not better then a great deal of the segments of haters. So no braging about your education when Morehouse, Spellman and Clark are there. No talking about your money when folks are managers, VPs and making as much bank as you.

So the hate for Vick was one more reminder of who was the majority of the city they lived in. It was a reminder that no matter how much money they made they still couldn’t get away from the ATliens cause many of them made just as much.

So you have kats who live there and hate the city…….because its bizzaro world for them. Everything is backwards……in there eye.

Then on top of that Obama the president……….LOL!!!

  5. Arlene says:

    MICHAEL VICK IS THE SHYTZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

    LMAO!

  6. Mizzo says:

Let them haters hate. Turn those slops into pom pom fed cheerleaders.

  7. [...] wasn’t Michael Vick’s return to Atlanta covered nationally?  No one would have watched that [...]
