I am a Georgia Tech fan, and I hate to hear the Jarvaris Crittenton is involved in this.

The mainstream media has shown us time and time again by ‘tabloiding’ certain black athletes and we shall see if this Arenas story will blow up and be the first ‘scandal’ of 2010.

Will Arenas be used as a guinea pig to void NBA contracts? ESPN is probably debating with their news and legal staff whether to pump this story up on all their platforms and will it generate a lot of internet hits and chatter among sports-talk radio listeners.

Barry Bonds, Michael Vick, OJ, were iconic figures who ESPN trashed left and right. However, there had been existing contempt for these guys prior to their legal problems.

Arenas is not iconic and outside of Atlanta and Washington, nobody has even heard of Critt. With Arenas he is seen more as a class clown with a big ego. However, that Plaxico Burress was seen as making a stupid mistake when a gun accidentally discharged and an opportunistic legal system led by Michael Bloomberg trumpeted that Burress should be put up as an example.

This story hasn’t gotten out of hand (YET), but if Arenas or his lawyer have some friends in the D.C. legal community, they need to find a way squash this legal situation in a similar manner that Tiger Woods was able to escape his potential legal bombshell in regard to the Florida Highway Patrol trying to open a case involving domestic violence allegations.

Aldridge and others have reported accurately, but Arenas is his own worst enemy and he is still ‘tweeting’ and admitted…
