1. Cinematography: specifically the slow pans across uniformly sleek surfaces and slow centered zooms towards a face or body.
2. Palette: a focus on very sharp black and white is evident in both (though obviously not as strict in “Bad Romance”)
3. Crazy imagery: blood, fire, horned beast of some sort, tragic faces in pain
It’s certainly a move in a new direction, different from his past work, different from the rest of hip-hop videos, and as such, more in the direction of Lady Gaga than, say, L’il Wayne.
And I’m saying all this w/ definite respect. The style mavens are all over Gaga now (and while you may not like her or any of her work – her video “Bad Romance” definitely set the bar for a new direction for pop videos), and it’s savvy of Hova to tap into this vein.
You got me……not sure.

I think demonic. The hooded figure reminds me of the devil in the Last Temptation. Not at all a fan.
I don’t know why it kinda reminded me of Nas’s “Hate Me Now.”
