Mantle is just one example of a flawed superstar. While I don't believe AI's basketball career is over (no way there are 30 shooting guards better than him) I do think he's in the twilight of a great career. All of the theatrics are a set up for a comeback. As Mizzo stated, the timing of the gambling/alcohol stuff is dubious at best. We knew he partied. And drank. And gambled. Let's not pick that as the reason for all of his troubles. Do we wish he would have put more time and effort towards refining his gifts? Sure. He was still damn good inspite of the choices he made. I hope his daughter is okay and I hope he finds some sort of peace with his wife. And I hope he gives the league, and punk reporter/columnists, hell next year.
