Nah, Cris Carter doesn’t do soccer but Portugal does. There really isn’t much to say about this match other than what happened inside of 8 minutes into the second half. The 1, nil score in a close played first half left no indication of what was to come. Obviously Portugal was the more talented team, but North Korea played it close early and I thought we were in for a fascinating finish.

There were funny tweets about imminent but surely hypothetical defections by DPR after what amounted to an end zone performance by Portugal. The goal output was the most this tournament and the 7th most all time.
Côte d’Ivoire is in trouble. They sit 3 points behind Portugal and need an inhuman goal output vs. DPR to overtake Portugal and move into the round of 16.

To quote Kevin Garnett, “Anything is possible.” Right now, the goal differential is 9-0. So, Brazil needs to hammer Portugal to give Cote D’Ivoire a real shot. I know that Brazil ALWAYS wants to hammer Portugal — so this could be interesting.
