TSF Friday Fire: Time to Makeover the NCAA
I know this is going to be a little rushed on my part and I would like to get deeper into this at another time.
With the current situation involving Cam Newton, most recently Reggie Bush and several smaller brushfires that lack the publicity but nevertheless create a life-altering situation for a young student athlete - what should be done to change the way the NCAA handles it student athletes and business overall?
Feel free to discuss anything from possible student athlete stipends to the BCS structure.
So now Lane Kiffin has come out and said when Tenn was recruiting Cam there were no shenanigans – same as what Bob Stoops said. Funny how its just Miss State that got approached for cash – sources say.
Sounds like Jilted Lover Syndrome to me.

I wouldn’t put it out of the realm of possibility that Newton’s father, after having visited Mississippi State having said: “We wouldn’t come to this backwards a** place if ya’ll paid us 6 figures.”
Then, the MSU folk after seeing Cam is lighting folks up, turning something like that into the accusations that we have today.
I was listening to the 2 Live Stews and I cant remember where they got the information but said NCAA is recommending to Auburn that they sit Cam…and also that the FBI is investigating because the allegations are considered extortion.
This reeks………..it REEKS.
Let me get this strait! They have no proof of wrong doing. The FBI is investigating because of what again? But they have no proof of wrong doing! The NCAA is recomending that the school that admitted no wrong doing, sit the player?
The image of Don King waving the America Inc Flag and shouting…”Only in America!” comes to mind. As well as images of strange fruits hanging on poplar tree…just because they can be hung there.

Actually, the BSPN’s 30 for 30 series entitled the “U” highlights just how fundamentally corrupt and exploitative the NCAA is. It was an indictment of the NCAA if ever there was one. The NCAA is inherently corrupt and it’s ridiculous that allegations without any proof, like video or audio footage, can be the same as a conviction. This is another matter that undermines ones ability to further partake in sports within this empire. The bloom is completely off the rose…

@Bigman – Yeap that is one of the reasons brotha. But also its about him winning the Heisman……….they do not want him to win it.
In saying that there is also the NFL angle. These fools don’t want this brotha drafted high so they are trying to throw dirt on him whenever possible. They bring up character issues, he has only started one season and he plays in a gimmick offense. But see these idiots already opened Pandora’s Box and now want to put the lid back on (when its time for a black QB to get drafted). The reason I say this is because Mark Sanchez was drafted in the 1st round 2 years ago even though he only started one year in college he also was arrested on sexual assault charges his freshman year (the charges were later dropped). Then you had Tim Tebow who was drafted in the 1st round last year yet he played in a gimmick offense and he wasn’t the runner nor does he have as strong an arm or as good mechanics as Newton.
See when Tebow and Sanchez were drafted people rarely brought up character, mechanic or offense issues. And if they did bring them up the answer was always that Tebow and Sanchez could improve or those other issues were in the past….they now have a clean slate.
I read comments on an AJC blog regarding Cam and I must say, I haven’t seen that kind of pure hate since Mike Vick was a Falcon. I mean pure unadulterated HATE. Just completely evil demonic spirits, those were the type of comments being allowed to fester on that site. It was all on purpose, because half my friends have been banned from the place for speaking out against the racism and hatred that is allowed to fester on the AJC’s blogs.
Wow thats a dang shame Miranda………in his home town no less. You would think the haters wouldn’t be so hard on a local kid. But hey he is a black athlete and a QB at that. So it doesn’t surprise me sista.

They dont care. He’s a young black man that hold his head up high and plays QB…they got mad because he was smiling yesterday. I’ve read those same comments about Vick. Mad because he holds his head up and isn’t 24/7 begging and crying and having to dig ditches for a living. That’s how they are…that’s how they’ll always be.
