The career of Vince Young reached dire straits yesterday as his relationship with head coach Jeff Fisher has gone far to the left. When will people start looking at Fisher as the potential problem here? Also Who is the best team in the NFC?
When will some of the national media stop kissing the asses of some of these head coaches? Just because you’ve been around for awhile doesn’t mean you’re necessarily doing the right thing. Some of the wording being used in this latest Vince Young/Jeff Fisher episode is really questionable. Words and phrases like “tantrum”, “meltdown”, “pouting” and “he’ll have to answer to” all indicate that Young has long been the antagonist in this relationship and once again is reacting the only way he knows how. When will some one even throw a hint of blame in Fisher’s direction? I doesn’t matter how long he’s been anywhere – Fisher’s moves and relationship with Young have been questionable at best. It’s obvious that Fisher is more comfortable with anyone but Young under center. Kerry Collins is simply not the quarterback for this offense and gives the position one dimension. Young has been effective and successful in this system but seems to play on a short leash. Jeff Fisher’s teams haven’t reached the playoffs in 7 seasons (only three times since Super Bowl XXXIV) and he’s considered a top ten coach? But then again this is the same organization the locked out Steve McNair from team facilities while he was still under contract. I wonder how this exact scenario would’ve played out in Pittsburgh or Indianapolis?
Who is the best team in the NFC? Personally, I’m not ready to crown anyone just yet. The Atlanta Falcons (8-2) seem to be the Flavor of the Month but the Bears, Eagles, Packers and Saints all at 7-3 are in the mix. The Giants at 6-4 are still a factor in all of this. There is alot of football left to be played but the jousting for position is at a Black Friday pitch. The Packers defeated the Eagles and face the Falcons this week. The Eagles defeated the Falcons and Giants, lost to the Packers and face the Bears this week. The Bears defeated the Packers, lost to the Giants and face the Eagles on Sunday. The Giants defeated the Bears, lost to the Eagles and face the Packers in Week 16. The Falcons defeated the Saints and lost to the Eagles and have a date with Green Bay on Sunday. The Saints lost to the Falcons and face them again in Week 16. Not to be lost in all of this are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who at 7-3 have losses at the hands of the Saints and Falcons but are winners of four of their last five games and are gathering steam each week.
