Behind Offensive Execution and Good Defense, the Sixers Blow Out Phoenix 103-83

Spurred by a 19-0 run to start 3rd quarter, Philadelphia pulled away from Phoenix 103-83. Andre Iguodala was the fire starter and finished with 15 points, 6 assists, 4 rips and 4 steals. Andre had 4 blocks in the opener. Philadelphia’s had its largest lead at 34 with 5:34 in the third. Phoenix didn’t score in the 2nd half until Shannon Brown hit a free throw (right extended) jumper with 5:47 to go in the 3rd quarter.

Jrue Holiday who had 15, did a great job of splitting the pick and roll in the second half. He banged his knee on the floor after coming down awkwardly with 3:06 left going up on the offensive glass. He says he’s fine.  Thad Young had 15 as well.

Jodie Meeks and Evan Turner each had 12. Turner pulled down 7 boards and has played well to open the season. Lou Williams had 13 and Spencer Hawes 9 points and 11 rebounds. Hawes is getting up and down the floor nicely…even dare I say it…athletic at times. Rookie Nikola Vucevic has great floor presence and looks to be one of those 17, 7 and 7 cats.

The Sixers got 48 points from their bench. They were very active defensively and never let Phoenix get any confidence.

This was Philly’s 2nd straight win in Phoenix and third straight vs. the Suns overall. Sixers hit at 47% and had a rebound advantage of 48-39. Philly hit 7 of 17 threes.

The Suns hit just 2 out of 11 three tries. Overall, Phoenix shot 41% and was paced by Ronnie Price’s 16. Grant Hill had 14…as did Hakim Warrick. Nash was 2-11 with one assist and 6 turnovers in 17 minutes. Rookie Markieff Morris had 9.

League wide, the first year players look fearless so far. Very good for the league.
