Wade: had just 10 but his last two proved to be game winner
The Heat will get everyone’s best shot. Cliche as hell…but very much a reality. Charlotte came out hot tonight…their biggest lead was 50-34 with 4:21 in the 2nd…before falling 96-95 on Wade’s driving layup off the left side off glass with 2.9 left.
The first half was all Charlotte. D.J. Augustin’s buzzer 3 off glass from 29 feet pushed the lead to 15 at halftime. If you watched the game, you knew in the back of your mind the lead wasn’t safe.
Miami outscored Charlotte 51-35 the rest of the way behind who else but the Big 3.
LeBron James led the Heat with 35 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Bosh was mad aggressive and had 25 and 6 boards. Wade had just 10 on 5-13 shooting but did hit the game winner. Mario Chalmers looking inspired after Norris Cole’s big game last night, made half of his 12 shot attempts for 15. Mario also had 4 assists. Each of the Big 3 had 2 blocks. When Miami turns on the defense, look the hell out.
Still, Charlotte was scrappy and fed off the home crowd who obviously were hungry for the upset of the favored Heat. UConn champion Kemba Walker was nice on both ends and put in 14 off the bench. Boris Diaw was triple double-ish with his 16 points, 16 rips and 8 dimes but it was Gerald Henderson with 21 (10-19) and Augustin (7-11) with 20 who carried the Bobcats most of the way.
Charlotte shot a decent 39-82 (.476)…7-18 (.389) from the arc and outrebounded the Heat 53-30. Crazy.
Miami was 36-78 (.462) and made 1 of 6 threes (.167). The difference was at the line. Miami made 23 of 28 to the Bobcats 10-16.
It’s early, but because of the quality of talent, I see Miami going 60-6.
