His Thunder have the Spurs on the brink of 2012 NBA extinction…

Yeah, in this case, hanging over a cliff is a great thing. Kevin Durant was ready for this moment the minute he graced an NBA floor.  I’ve talked to Durant a few times since he hit the league and when his team was 1-9 to begin his second season, it was very noticeable the losing was wearing on him. In year three, when the Thunder were beginning to look special, KD gave me this thorough interview. The difference between this true superstar and others is a respect for the past (Check out The Shadow League). It matures you faster. Kevin Durant is humble and after last night’s 108-103 win vs. the daunting San Antonio Spurs, OKC is one game away from assuming what Durant and his mates know to be true. A truth that could be the Western Conference throne and a chance to win an NBA championship so young…yet so mean. Did you see that look on his face when the Spurs fought back? After hitting a three, he was not going to let his team allow seasoned vets back into the game. That was an impressive win and maybe, just maybe, it speaks to Durant’s respect for history. James Harden with the dagger huh? To put this all in perspective, don’t count the Spurs out, but I personally think it’s a wrap.
