Free agent Ray Allen signs with the Miami Heat

The mood was optimistic for the Boston Celtics keeping their original “Big Three” intact when center Kevin Garnett signed a three-year deal this week. However there were rumors of swingman Ray Allen going anywhere from the LA Clippers to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Did Allen’s strained relationship with Rajon Rondo play a role?

Ray Allen will enter his 17th NBA season as a member of the Miami Heat. Allen gives the world champions veteran leadership and a bona-fide sniper from deep. A Tweet from Miami Heat owner Micky Arison (@MickyArison) welcomes Allen to the Miami Heat “family”. As a member of the Boston Celtics, Allen was part of a trio that included Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce that won the Celtics franchise a 17th NBA title in the 2007-08 season.
