With the Olympics in their last week now is a good time to sit down and reflect on the things that we’ve seen already and a few of the things that are yet to come. (Author’s note: This will not include USA Basketball, because if I remember this right the tournament ends on Saturday and I’m not about to predict the tournament again after doing it once before). Dwight is smiling again and the NBA just got a lot more interesting…

I’m sure everyone has an opinion on the trade. Yeah…I guess Steve Nash in the pick and roll with Dwight is a sickdiculous thought, and trust the rest of the league will not bow down but there is no denying the Lakers and cotdamn loaded. This is a shock wave trade. One that doesn’t happen often in sports and the effects will be illuminated long after the particulars are old and gray sippin’ on Taylor’s Port on some street corner in Brooklyn talking trash about whatever new whippersnapper has just been traded himself. Andre Iguodala, another player involved in the blockbuster on his way to Denver, gets to move mountainsI thought the whole thing with Dwight Howard was terribly and masterfully overblown by my peers given that rarely they criticize anyone but the players generally, but none of that matters now. Dwight Howard is a Laker and Kobe can have realistic dreams of sixth ring sugarplums as soon as the USA gets that gold Sunday. I tell you what…I bet Orlando never drafts a center again.
