The return of Adrian Peterson has defied medical science and blown the mind of this writer.

This week’s Thursday Night matchup has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4) matched up against the Minnesota Vikings (5-2). I don’t know if the Vikings record or the performance of running back Adrian Peterson is the biggest surprise of the season’s first half. The Buccaneers have been on the short end of some close contests. The addition of free agent wide receiver Vincent Jackson has helped quarterback Josh Freeman rebound from a subpar 2011.

Pablo Sandoval launches his first of three home runs in the first inning of Game 1.

Pablo Sandoval and his San Francisco Giants teammates have been told by everyone how the pitching of Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander would be the story of these World Series.

Apparently, they were tired of hearing it.

Sandoval introduced himself to Verlander and the record books as he crushed three home runs (two off Verlander) in the Giants stunning 8-3 victory to take Game 1 of the World Series last night.
