Ron Glover’s Week 13 NFL recap: Romeo Crennell and the Kansas City Chiefs lean on one another in the face of tragedy
(NY Daily News)
Wins and losses meant nothing Sunday for Romeo Crennel and the Chiefs.
The unfathomable tragedy Romeo Crennel and Kansas City Chiefs team officials witnessed on Saturday morning involving linebacker Jovan Belcher would be enough to shake anyone to their core. Crennel paced the Chiefs sideline and coached his team to a 27-21 comeback victory against the Carolina Panthers with those images heavy on his conscience.
Crennel spoke eloquently when referring to Kasandra Perkins — who lost her life at the hands of Belcher and their young daughter Zoe. No player was affected more than running back Jamaal Charles — whose wife is the cousin of Perkins. She introduced her to Belcher.

Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to a huge road win against the Bears.
Seahawks 23 – Bears 17 (ot) – Don’t count this team out of winning the NFC West. Russell Wilson is going to get his share of Rookie of the Year votes.
Texans 24 – Titans 10 – What the Texans must do now is maintain their focus and not look too far ahead as the season winds down.
Patriots 23 – Dolphins 16 – Acquiring Aquib Talib could be a difference-maker in the postseason for New England.
Bills 34 – Jaguars 18 – One of these days the Buffalo Bills’ victories late in the season will count for something.
Andrew Luck tosses the game-winner yesterday against the Lions.
Colts 35 – Lions 33 – How can you not like Andrew Luck. That final drive was the stuff of a 10-year veteran. Than again, I guess it wasn’t.
Chiefs 21 – Panthers 21 – Can the Chiefs brass really look Romeo Crennel in the face and fire him at the end of the season?
Packers 23 – Vikings 14 – Aaron Rodgers has all his weapons back just in time. Adrian Peterson is the Walter Payton of this generation.
Rams 16 – 49ers 13 (ot) – I guess it’s safe to say the Rams have the 49ers number.
Jets 7 – Cardinals 6 – Maybe the right guy quarterbacked the Jets to victory yesterday.
Broncos 31 – Buccaneers 23 – Tough back to back losses for the Bucs. The playoffs are still within reach with a little help.
Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are still alive for the postseason.
Steelers 23 – Ravens 20 – A gutty win for the Black and Gold. John Harbaugh had better realize that he isn’t his brother and Mike Tomlin isn’t Jim Schwartz.
Bengals 20 – Chargers 13 – The Bengals are in the thick of the wildcard hunt. Heck, winning the division isn’t a stretch.
Browns 20 – Raiders 17 – I can’t wait to see this Brown’s team next season.
Cowboys 38 – Eagles 33 – Speaking of next season…
