Kevin Durant’s triple double slamed the door on the Hornets.
Lost in the star power of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook is the team defense employed by the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 11 games this month, the Thunder are holding opponents to 97 points per contest and holding them to 42 percent shooting from the floor. The New Orleans Hornets were held to 29 second half points in a 119-74 thrashing.
Kevin Durant notched his third career triple-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
Kings 125 – Magic 101 – The Kings scored 120 points or more for the second consecutive game and shot 55 percent from the field. John Salmons led Sacramento with 21 points. Tyreke Evans handed out 7 assists. Tobias Harris led Orlando with 23 points.
Cavaliers 103 – Raptors 92 – The Cavaliers used a 37-point second quarter to open the game up. The Raptors shot 10 percent from beyond the arc. Dion Waiters scored 23 points for the Cavaliers. DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors with a game-high 34 points.
Pistons 96 – Wizards 95 – The Pistons held the Wizards to 13 points in the third quarter only to score 14 in the decisive fourth quarter. Brandon Knight scored a career-high 32 points and Jose Calderon handed out 18 assists. Trevor Ariza led the Wizards with 22 points.
Knicks 109 – Warriors 105 – Steph Curry scored an NBA season and career-high 54 points, including 11 three-pointers. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 38 points. Tyson Chandler had a career night as well, pulling down 28 rebounds.
Grizzlies 90 – Mavericks 84 – The Grizzlies out rebounded the Mavericks 46-34 despite shooting 38 percent from the floor. Zach Randolph led Memphis with 22 points. Michael Conley handed out six assists. Shawn Marion led Dallas with 16 points and 8 boards.
Bucks 110 – Rockets 107 – Monta Ellis knocked down an off-balance 27-footer as time expired to give Milwaukee the win. Ellis finished with 27 points, 13 assists and 6 steals. Omir Asik scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds for Houston.
Thunder 119 – Hornets 74 – OKC outrebounded New Orleans 48-25. Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with 29 points. Ryan Anderson scored 14 points for the Hornets.
Suns 105 – Spurs 101 (ot) – The Suns held the Spurs to o-10 shooting in the extra period as they shocked San Antonio on their home floor. Jermaine O’Neal had 22 points and 2 blocks for the Suns. Tony Parker led the Spurs with 22 points and 8 assists.
Hawks 102 – Jazz 91 – An 18-point third quarter may have cost Utah the game. Al Horford enjoyed a productive night with 35 points and 15 boards. Al Jefferson led the Jazz with 25 points and Derrick Favors had 15 rebounds.
Nuggets 111 – Trail Blazers 109 – The Nuggets opened and closed strong with 30+ points in the first and fourth quarters. Ty Lawson scored a game-high 30 points for Denver. Andre Miller finished with 10 assists. Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 26 points. J.J. Hickson grabbed 14 rebounds.
