Saturday Morning Suicides: Kobe Bryant starts, but Dwight Howard finishes strong as Lakers defeat Pacers 99-93

Unable to finish against the Pacers, Kobe Bryant had no problem scripting out the Lakers’ game plan for Dwight Howard.

Kobe Bryant gave it a go on his injured ankle, but could only last 12 minutes against the Indiana Pacers. The Lakers compensated with 35 points between reserves Steve Blake and Antawn Jamison — they combined for 9-14 shooting from beyond the arc. Dwight Howard anchored Los Angeles at both ends of the floor in a 99-93 victory.

Lakers 99 – Pacers 93 – Dwight Howard led Los Angeles with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. George Hill led the Pacers with a game-high 27 points.

Raptors 92 – Bobcats 78 – Toronto was able to hold Charlotte off by holding them to 10 fourth quarter points. Rudy Gay scored a game-high 28 points and Amir Johnson pulled down 21 boards. Gerald Henderson led the Bobcats with 22 points. Charlotte has lost nine of their last ten games.

Wizards 96 – Hornets 87 – A shotty third quarter by New Orleans was the difference for Washington — who improved to 17-17 at home. John Wall led the Wizards with 29 points and 9 assists. Eric Gordon led the Hornets with 20 points.

Hawks 107 – Suns 94 – Josh Smith led Atlanta with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Goran Dragic finished with 21 points and 8 assists for Phoenix.

Rockets 108 – T-Wolves 100 – Houston outscored Minnesota 69-43 in the second half to put the game away. James Harden led the Rockets with 37 points and 8 assists. Derrick Williams led the T-Wolves with 19 points.

Thunder 117 – Magic 104 – Both teams cooled down in the second half after a high scoring first half. Kevin Durant finished with 26 points and Kendrick Perkins grabbed 12 rebounds. Jameer Nelson led Orlando with 26 points and Nikola Vucevic pulled down 14 boards.

Heat 107 – Bucks 94 – The Bucks scored 15 second quarter points and found themselves chasing the Heat the rest of the way. LeBron James led Miami with 28 points and 10 assists. Ersa Ilyasova had a monster night, scoring 26 points and grabbing a game-high 17 rebounds.

Mavericks 96 – Cavaliers 86 – Dallas started out slow, but was able to finish strong to get the win at home. Roddy Beaubois led the Mavericks with 18 points and Jae Crowder had 14 boards. Dion Waiters led the Cavaliers with 21 points.

Nuggets 87 – Grizzlies 80 – The Grizzlies failed to score at least 20 points in three of the four quarters. Kosta Koufos led the Nuggets with 18 points and 16 boards. Zach Randolph led Memphis with 18 points and 18 boards.

Bulls 113 – Warriors 95 – Golden State scored 36 points in the second and third quarters. Luol Deng scored a game-high 23 points and Joakim Noah grabbed 13 rebounds. Jarrett Jack led the Warriors with 20 points.
