Breaking News: Russell Westbrook has a torn meniscus and is out for the remainder of the NBA Playoffs


The chippy play between Russell Westbrook and Houston’s Patrick Beverley may have resulted in the injury to the OKC guard.

The NBA’s Western Conference is officially up for grabs.

The championship hopes of the Oklahoma City Thunder have taken a serious blow when it was revealed that point guard Russell Westbrook will have surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Russell Westbrook averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists this season. He is one half of the explosive duo which includes Kevin Durant. The Thunder hold a 2-0 series advantage over the Houston Rockets in the first-round of the playoffs. Westbrook was averaging 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the series. The point guard duties now fall to rookie Reggie Jackson and seasoned veteran Derek Fisher.

The series shifts to Houston for Game 3 Saturday night.
