Tip-Off for 4/29/13 (featuring Duke Ellington): Dwight Howard ejected as the San Antonio Spurs sweep the Los Angeles Lakers in 103-82 victory; Miami Heat finish off Milwaukee Bucks with 88-77 win

No words needed from Kobe Bryant to know what he was thinking.

Kobe Bryant made his presence felt at the most opportune time of the Lakers 103-82 season-ending loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Bryant walked to the Lakers bench after Dwight Howard was ejected after receiving his second technical foul in the 3rd quarter. Kobe’s arrival served reassurance to his teammates and Laker fans who the team really belongs to for now and maybe the foreseeable future. The game was another story. The Spurs was more than willing to put the Lakers out of their misery — ending a frustrating season for coaches, fans, ownership and players.

The Miami Heat had venison four different ways in their first-round sweep of the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat won each of their games by double-digits, the final being a 88-77 victory in Milwaukee.

Celtics 97 – Knicks 90 (ot) – Celtic Pride kicked in as the Celtics led by as many as 20 points only to allow New York to tie things up late. Paul Pierce led Boston with 29 points. Jason Terry scored 9 of his 18 points in overtime. Jeff Green added 26 for the C’s. Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 36 points. Raymond Felton fueled the Knicks comeback scoring 16 of his 27 points in a pivotal third quarter.

Knicks lead 3-1.

Heat 88 – Bucks 77 – The next time Brandon Jennings makes a guarantee it will more than likely be for another team. Jennings along with Monta Ellis have declared they will test the free agent market this summer. LeBron James scored 30 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and handed out 7 assists for the Heat — who were without Dwyane Wade (knee). Monta Ellis led the Bucks with 21 points. Brandon Jennings finished with three points on 1 for 7 shooting from the floor.

Miami wins series 4-0.

Spurs 103 – Lakers 82 – Tony Parker led five Spurs players in double-figures with 23 points. San Antonio had 24 assists on 39 field goals. Pau Gasol led the Lakers with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Dwight Howard finished with 7 points and 8 boards.

Spurs win series 4-0.

Warriors 115 – Nuggets 101 – The dead-eye shooting of Golden State’s Steph Curry has pushed the Denver Nuggets to the verge of elimination. Curry scored 22 of his 31 points in the 3rd quarter of the Warriors victory — their third consecutive of the series. Once again, Ty Lawson was the scoring catalyst for Denver with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Kenneth Faried grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

Warriors lead series 3-1.
