LeBron James

In the end, it was LeBron James with the game-winner and the Indiana Pacers wondering what just happened.

LeBron James scored on a running layup as time expired to give the Miami Heat a 103-102 victory in overtime of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. James recorded his ninth career triple-double in the process. Indiana’s Paul George was fouled by Dwyane Wade on a three-point attempt with 2.2 seconds remaining. George made all three free throws to give the Pacers a 102-101 lead. Ironically, Pacers center Roy Hibbert was on the bench at the time of James’ layup.

Heat 103 – Pacers 102 – Miami shot 48 percent from the floor and scored 60 points in the paint, despite committing 20 turnovers. Trailing at the half 42-37, the Heat opened the second half with a 12-2 run. LeBron James was 12 for 24 from the field, finishing with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Dwyane Wade added 19 points 6 rebounds and 5 assists before fouling out in overtime. Chris Bosh scored 17 points and Chris Anderson chipped 16 points off the bench.

Paul George was clutch when the Pacers needed him most. George nailed a three-pointer in the closing seconds to send the game into overtime. George later knocked down three free throws to put the Pacers ahead in overtime. Indiana coach Frank Vogel inexplicably replaced Roy Hibbert with Sam Young on the game’s final play. George led Indiana with 27 points and David West added 26 points. Roy Hibbert finished with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Lance Stephenson grabbed a game-high 12 boards.
