Brett Brown brings championship intensity to a very young 76ers roster.

An already eventful evening has taken another dramatic turn for the Philadelphia 76ers. The New York Daily News is reporting the team is planning to announce the hiring of San Antonio Spurs assistant Brett Brown.

Brett Brown — who replaces Doug Collins was an assistant under Greg Popovich for seven seasons. Prior to moving up to an assistant, Brown served as San Antonio’s player development coach for five seasons.

Earlier this evening, the Philadelphia 76ers traded All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans for the rights to Nerlens Noel and a top three protected pick in 2014. With their 11th pick, they selected Syracuse point guard Michael Carter-Williams.
