Rubin Carter’s quest for self-vindication made him a champion on many levels.

Former middleweight boxer Rubin Carter — who became the inspiration of millions after he was wrongly convicted and jailed for twenty years for murder — has died at the age of 76, according to his caretaker and longtime friend John Artis.

Philadelphia Soul outlast Jacksonville Sharks in home opener 54-41

Soul fullback Derrick Ross pinballed his way to 58 yards and three scores in a 54-41 victory.

The Philadelphia Soul opened the 2014 AFL campaign with four road games in the first five weeks. After a disappointing 1-3 start, the Soul returned home against the 2-2 Jacksonville Sharks, unveiled their 2013 AFL American Conference Championship banner and unleashed a furious goal line stand late to hang on for the 54-41 victory.

Can a wounded Andrew Bogut and the Warriors rattle Blake Griffin enough to throw the Clippers off course?

The NBA’s second season has arrived and for the San Antonio Spurs, it couldn’t begin soon enough. The reigning Western Conference Champions finished a league-best 62-20, including season splits with the world champion Miami Heat and the Eastern Conference leaders, the Indiana Pacers. The Spurs are joined by (in the order of seeding): Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks. Here are my first round predictions.

DeSean Jackson should be motivated to silence the Eagles and other critics in 2014.

DeSean Jackson will get his share of opportunities to prove the Philadelphia Eagles wrong over the next few seasons. Jackson has agreed in principle to a multi-year deal with the Washington Redskins. Unfortunately, we won’t know how the 2014 NFL schedule shakes out for the next few weeks.
