Since 2016, San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid has been by the side of former teammate Colin Kaepernick in his quest for social justice.

In three months, the NFL’s free agency period will begin with the fanfare and fervor of Super Bowl week. During the 2017 spending frenzy, the non-signing of free agent Colin Kaepernick and the poor quality of quarterbacks signed in front of him dominated headlines throughout the regular season.

Since Kaepernick took a knee for racial inequality in August of 2016, several players have protested and lent their financial support to causes Kaepernick personally targeted. Yesterday’s Wild Card upsets have certainly put today’s favorites on notice.

In the nightcap, the reigning NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons rediscovered their offensive mojo at the same time stifling a potent Los Angeles Rams offense to cruise to a 26-13 upset victory.

In today’s games, the Buffalo Bills travel to Jacksonville to take on the upstart Jaguars while the Carolina Panthers face their NFC South division rival New Orleans Saints who are looking for a three-game season sweep and the right to face the Minnesota Vikings next week.

The NFL’s 98th regular season will be remembered for many things, most didn’t take place on the field of play. The passion I held for the game since I was seven years-old wavered for reasons I never imagined. Angrily, I walked away knowing I could never look at the NFL the same again, but still knowing that I’m a writer and this is what I love to do. To be truthful I let the 2017 NFL season question my love of something much greater. I won’t let that happen again.

Here are my Saturday NFL Wild Card Predictions.
